Top 5 Footballers of Your Lifetime

True!, or more appreciative of true defensive class.

That said, Paul McGrath was on the brink of selection for me!

Indeed, he hardly trained and was still one of the best defenders in England at the time

He was the reason you challenged for the title, forget Atkinson,Saunders etc, big drunken McGrath was the man

Although hes knees had gone by the time you had him ;)

His knees were gone, he didn't train, he was suicidal, depressed and drunken, and yet won the PFA Player of the Year for 92-93! Absolute rock! - and at £450k, a nice little gift from Sir Alex, who had offered him a pay-off to retire!

We were building a nice little team at the time ;)

We didnt need Robbo and McGrath getting everyone leathered before games :D

Shouldn't be surprising. Ferguson doesn't have the best track record of getting money for sales.

McGrath, Veron, Rossi, Beckham, Nistelrooy, Pique, Stam, Cole.... There's a long, long list, but the chips are done and my steak needs a cookin'!

Can't believe that no one else but myself has mentioned Dalglish! Either you lot are all 17 or i'm just too old to be on here!

I'm old enough to remember him, and begrudgingly admit he was class, but those tiny shiny pulled up shorts, and little dancing feet put him in the "very camp" category, and hence would place him somewhere near 87th in my list, sandwiched in between former Athletico Madrid star Milinko Pantic, and ex-Villa legend Shaun Teale.

Lol. Shaun Teale had the biggest calfs in the world, they were freaky.

People are entitled to their own opinions, but some people have clearly gone to great lengths to pick players from outside the EPL as opposed to possibly picking someone from a rival.
Yeah, that'll be it. In between manipulating the global economy to fund wars around the world that help strengthen their secret cabal's grip on world politics, the posters on this forum like nothing better than to get together and discuss how they can best annoy you by not rating Man Utd players all that highly.

We've been sussed lads. Time to beat a quick retreat to our island fortress.

Not as bad as some, but he was certainly worth double figures. Andy Cole was about as guaranteed as you get for goals.

You were being serious?

I though most of the players you mentioned (Veron, Rossi, Pique, Cole and even Stam) went for way over the odds.

lol, not quite.
It's just the mention of players like Riquelme over some of the fantastic players Man Utd and Arsenal have both had over the last decade.

If you don't think I'm right on at least some of the mentions you're being naive. Whether it be against Arsenal, Man Utd, Liverpool etc... I know I was probably guilty of it as I could have easily said Henry, Vieira, Bergkamp, Fabregas etc...
