Today we are announcing that Qore: Presented by the PLAYSTATION Network, a highly interactive, monthly lifestyle gaming program covering the world inside PLAYSTATION is on its way to PS3. Qore has been developed to give PS3 users early access to game related content at a level of quality, interactivity and depth. Everything is filmed in HD. Qore will feature exclusive news, developer interviews, in-depth game previews and behind-the-scenes looks at PlayStation games and special access to game demos, special beta invitations, game add-ons and other downloadable game-related content.

To get Qore, simply log onto PSN and go to the PLAYSTATION Store, as you would purchase any other form of downloadable content. Once the single Episode or annual subscription is purchased, that month’s episode will be downloaded under the “Game” heading on the Cross Media Bar (XMB). Users who purchase the “Qore Annual Subscription” will notice only that month’s episode is available to download. The following month, the new episode will automatically appear in your download list. The introductory price for Qore is $2.99 for a single episode and $24.99 for an annual subscription of 13 episodes, using your PLAYSTATION Network wallet

this is US only right now as far as i know, but what are your thoughts on it?

ah, so the paying for stuff begins. It seemed fine up until this line:

"special access to game demos, special beta invitations, game add-ons and other downloadable game-related content."

if it was the uk equivelent of $24.99 it wouldnt be so bad but no doubt we'll get screwed on the price.

You know, without even realising it I assumed we'd get shafted:rolleyes:

Maybe £19.99 over here but that is still too much.

Does this mean that new demos won't be freely available on PSN?

Why would you assume that? If you check UK and US prices on all PSN content it is more or less $2=£1 (some titles vary by 50p or £1). Some items are actually cheaper in the UK store.

I did the same though, even if it's £12 it is still paying for their advertising. In depth interviews will be developers bigging up their games, demos we already have. If it presented us with unbiased reviews and potentially saved us from forking out on a donkey of a game then fair enough but that isn't going to happen is it?

Indeed, I was not saying the product is good (I ain't seen it but it sounds crap tbh apart from getting into betas etc early), merely that we don't get "screwed" on PSN pricing.

Then don't pay for it, and there is no mention of it coming here as it is produced by future publishing america.

SOA and SOE are seperate, therefore what goes on over there does not always come over here.

It is also produced in full HD, so along with access to betas etc it sounds like value for money.

I wouldn't subscribe to it mind.

Nope not at all as far as i have read, it seems at worse it will be for early access to some demoes like xboxlive gold sub does. It is mostly for beta access like the socom one they are doing soon, if thats the case i dont mind paying a £12 a year for early demos and beta access for games like LBP res2 etc etc. File planet does the same for the PC for early demos and beta access, IGN insider does the same for articles, sounds like its Sonys idea of combining the two.

It doesn't say anywhere in the OP that they'll be doing actual reviews of titles, and funnily enough whenever you interview a developer there more than likely to big up their game ;)

I could certainly see there being potential with this especially if the team making it had considerable amounts of 'behind the scene' access to Sony's studios so that they could provide some interesting incite into the development of their games.

However "special access to game demos" is not cool, and for that reason alone I hope SCEE doesnt go down this route. Creating a system where those who pay a subscription get access to certain demos before everyone else is nooo good!

Of course they do, my point is that it isn't worth paying to listen to them do it.

But that's like a half price sale when the prices are double to start with, it isn't early access it just delaying it for those that don't pay:confused:

The step towards a Live copycat service begins

I give it 6 months until we have to pay an overarching subscription fee for the PSN.

Take a deep breath and think about it very carefully for a minute... with Qore you are already forced into a situation where demos, betas and content are available only if you pay a fee for it... does that sound like another certain console's online service to you or anything?

Obtuse as usual, I see.

I don't know why your small brain is struggling to comprehend the fact that this is in fact a Sony project/service, as well as being unable to see the similarities between Live and this;
and special access to game demos, special beta invitations, game add-ons and other downloadable game-related content.

Future publishing ( America ) is producing this show ....... sony of america are obviously helping to promote it, but it is still a Future product.
