Just hit the motherload

yep. I'm sorry but Handouts should only be given to people who absolutely need them.

I would have said how do you know he's not saving to move in to a non-council place but he's just been given a new house so my defence is out the window :P

At least he's not on the dole :)

it's not and as you say it's free money. It just shouldn't be available in the first place.

how would you feel if you were forced out of your home?

i`m sure if i was forced from mine i would also want some compensation, im pretty sure you wouldnt knock it back either :)

I was talking more about council funding rather than the compo.

This was done around the corner to me, infact they demolish half of our street on the final stage and stop right near our house...

people with criminal records werent allowed in the new housing, those without were, and were compensated in the same way.

when people make homes and are happy, being forced to uproot while they demolish your old house cant be nice. So the compensation eases that. Getting a new house is nice too, but thats not all people think about.

You just dove in with totally unthought out comments.

Are people who live in council houses scummy spongers?

I's effective rented accommodation. I would expect 4 weeks notice to find somewhere else. It's not being forced out of your home as he doesn't own it. I think it's a complete waste of tax payers money and you certainly wouldn't get any compo in the private sector.

And yes this type of compo should be crapped for the above reason.

As I said it;'s more a digg at the rules than wannabedamned, but I don't see why everyone has to go well done. It's just like when people get caught for speeding and want sympathy. People have different opinions and this is a forum.

He cant afford to buy a place as a single person on 20k a year. Housing Association is designed for just that. He works in education, he is thus a Key Worker.

That's why he gets a council house. Nothing more to add to that really.

Fair play you, you lucky git.

That sounds really good, hope it turns out well for you. Do you have an idea of what the new houses will look like and stuff?

So those little reciepts annoy you?

If I were forced out my residence to somewhere else regardless I'd expect the same.

I think AH's point was, if he is on a decent wage, why is he living in council property and receiving all that money when he can afford to live elsewhere. Although I could be completely wrong.

Either way, it does seem a bit silly, forcing someone to move out, giving them upgrades anyway, and then also giving them extra money, but I wouldn't say no to any of it. :)

Whilst I agree it's annoying to have to move home or whatever BUT I do think what they are providing all for free is a bit dam much and why is the $5k necessary?? Don't forget people, this will be given to an awful lot of others and cost a hell of a lot of cash.
The brand spanking new home should be more than enough I would have thought!
