I mean the contract versions. Sorry i should have said more clearly :D.

There are two options:

1) Sign up in store for the £30, £35, £45 or £75 contracts and recieve a subsidised phone. BUT, have to sign up in store, stupidly priced, and 18 month contract.

2) Get PAYG. Dont need to sign up, with a bit of luck can be unlocked. Downside is that it will be more expensive. How much so is yet to be released.

I see. So the whole iTunes activation thing is down the shoot now? Doesn't really surprise me to be honest. Hope the PAYG one will be decently price, but of course it is Apple.

Option 2 looks more attractive, i mean if one can sell the old v1 for say £200-£250 still on ebay. Even paying £400 for a new one isn't that bad, then wack on a T-Mobile Web n Walk and you are a mobile internet god !

It seems you can't upgrade to an iPhone if you have another phone on contract with O2, like you could with the old iPhone.

Looks like I'll be having two contracts for a few months then. :(

Activation, although a dream for the unlockers was pants. There were delays with activating, sometimes the servers would go down and it was a avenue for the unlockers. Can understand why it has been scrapped.

I think you have to wait until you are near the end of your contract and then 02 will contact you with details.

I agree, even if it is expensive, it will work out a lot lot cheap in the long run.

Here's a bit of an aside: I've still got a £100 voucher from CPW for buying the v1 just before the £100 price drop. I was saving it on the off chance it could go towards the v2, but as it expires on 30 June this isn't going to happen.

What should I buy? Bearing in mind I don't want anything and would probably be aiming to sell it.

I was originally thinking of getting the Apple BT headset which comes with the dock/charger too - but this seems to be a waste of cash if I'm getting the v2 iPhone, as the dock isn't likely to be the same since the new one's curved! So hence I'm looking for something to sell, or something that's actually useful!

Can't you buy something, then return it and get store credit, and then put this towards the new iphone? :)

Quick Question for those of you going to put an 02 simplicity sim in a V2. What do you do about data rates? I'm assuming there isn't an unlimited data plan in the simplicity range?

You can get unlimited net for £7.50 a month, or if you're on the £25+ a month tariff you can pick unlimited net as your 'free' bonus.
