All New Summer 2008 Transfer Merry Go Round/Rumour Mill

lol... could you imagine though? That would really sting... but if Roman offered £100m could the Glaziers afford to turn it down?

I'd love to see the fireworks if it happened :D

If only we could afford him :(

Heard a rumour Benitez tried to stick a clause in the latest Barry bid to bring the initial price down which means they'll give Villa more money if they win the league.

Come on Villa aren't THAT stupid :p

Rafa Benitez could persuade David Villa to sign for Liverpool, according to the striker's Spanish team-mate Carlos Marchena. (Mail on Sunday)
Strangely I do believe believe that Benitez could do it, but yeah, we have no money :o

Many Spanish players don't like to play outside of Spain, but Liverpool is an option with Benitez in-charge. And especially when these players see the likes of Torres being worshiped I'm sure they'd see Liverpool as the place to go outside of Spain.

The problem with that is, if Benitez goes, our team disolves lol....

...:(

Gareth Barry should worth more than £18m.

If Torres cost £20m and is a hell of a lot younger... a world class forward(lets face it everyone knew he was a massive name when we bought him, before he'd made such an impact for us) and hes a forward, a position theres not an abudance of brilliant players in...

Barrys a CMF..... well hes quite good, definately not world class, 28, plays in a position where theres already an adundance of QUALITY players throughout the league... Hes DEFINATELY less valuable than Mascherano who was £18m and is a lot younger.

Barry is not worth 18m, 14 at most, but only due to the fact that hes an English player and proven in the league, and we're being held to ransom anyway.

That's a good point. There isn't exactly a shortage of top CM's in the league, there are even a lot of top English CM's with Gerrard, Lampard, Carrick, Hargreaves and then the lesser ones like Jenas and Huddlestone (and others I'm sure).

£18m is very expensive for someone of Barry's age when you compare other signings. Villa are holding Liverpool to ransom and personally I can't understand why Liverpool are still chasing it.
