A day from the diary of a BMW driver...

I now drive a fiesta and sit in the inside lane... because i drive a crappy car and thats where we should be. Quite why some people think they have the right to stay in the outside lane but NOT have to give way to faster cars i dont know - Jealousy..... thats what i think.

People turn to cavemen on the roads because thats what the roads are ..... but in nature you dont see rats getting annoyed because cats and dogs dont have to stay in the sewers do you? .... Silly analogy but its true eh.

As i said, i now drive a fiesta - But i've been on both sides of the coin so i can see both sides.

It's not jealously lol
Nor am I saying BMW's are poo cars..

On the same trip and same road as the X5 incident I had, I purposely decided to pull over to the left lane to watch a TVR that I spotted in the distance tootle past..

edit:

Now your going to say I purposely tried to **** off the BMW driver..

Unfortunately there are some sad losers who rather than form an opinion from experience, look towards the people who they see as "cool and popular" and follow what they think.

yes very much so... And I feel sorry for them.

You will notice that many have stopped posting because its past their bed time and mummy has restricted their internet access.

lol :p

As a student myself.. I'm sure you will be going to bed before I do. ;)

Its mostly rep's that drive like the OP, the ones who think they are uber important, so its 318d,base A4 and Passat drivers.

Mondeo and Vectra drivers would love to compete with the above but they dont have a fuel card so they cant afford to waste the fuel.

If im honest ive driven like the OP, on the whole these guys arent all that bad, if you let them by, they are gone and out of your way, unlike white van men, and the lane hoggers.

They're "on the ball" as mentioned in another thread a long time ago, they are like men when in the super market, we know exactly what we want and won't linger around for long. We will go in get what we need and go out with no nonsense!

Now the gadgets section of Comet...that's another story...

You also have to remember that lots of BMWs are FAST, lots of people who buy FAST cars want to drive FAST and will get annoyed at people holding them up and stopping them driving FAST.

You have a 318. It cant reach real BMW speeds :p

I was on about the supermarket! but you're right it can't...although it's still speedier than everyday cars in 2nd and 3rd :p anyway I drive sensible hence the fuel economy I get :D

Also some folks on Urban Dictionary said the following!

2. bmw driver
love it 30 up, 193 down hate it

Bad Motorist, W*****! ... with little or no regard for other road users. This person can only drive in the fast lane magnetised to the rear bumper of another car. They have to overtake everything even if the maneouvre may very easily result in a multi vehicle pile up!!
"Oh look, 100yds to the services, I'll slow down from 120mph while cutting accross three lanes of heavy traffic so i can have a quick slash" or maybe a ****!!!

 the language!!

An everyday car is less speedier therefore my car = speedier as I mentioned, than an everyday car !

everyday car which is what, like your BMW isn't everday. I'm confused :p

It's about as fast as my Focus 1.6 which...isn't fast and if that isn't an everyday car I don't know what is :p

Heck a Mondeo 2.0 (MK3) is faster and you'd find one of those pushing you out the way in the BMW lane :D

Since picking up my bmw 335 last week I have felt like other motorist are getting in my way a lot more than I did with my previous car, it's just so easy to drive fast and not really notice how quick your going.

I rarely use the outside lane unless going past a lorry that seems to be holding hands with another in the inside lane or a slowmo hogging the middle lane (can't they read the signs saying "don't hog the middle lane!" ?) then move back into the inside lane if clear :)

As for everyday cars, corsas, astras, lagunas (my old man has a similar age laguna sport and it's much faster than that) etc. Yeah it's as underpowerful as your Focus but it handles much better :p

Is the 355 a big car (i've no idea)? Bigger cars with bigger engines tend to feel like that.

Does it improve traction in the wet? :p

Anyway, yes my car is the daily driver, an everyday car is a car (I -edit) most commonly see on the street and on the road and since you see more Astra/Corsa/Mondeo/Focus cars etc on the road than any E46 I consider those to be "everyday" cars.

E46 are about as common as Focus or Mondeos. Infact more so at times I've noticed. There is nothing exclusive about them ;)
