Found the original page with the image on and then did some further investigation.

Number 4 is from Moetan ref here
She appears to be the top character in the list so may well be the title character, (I haven't seen the series so must have seen something somewhere else)

Don't know the character name for 9 though

Very clever little fanmade video with the MOHS cast doing the Lucky Star opening ...

Thought it was better quality than most of these things you see.

I don't ban people for that...I may give them interesting new usernames though...
Pff... that username was not NEARLY embarassing enough to deter me - I TOLD YOU SO!:p

Been pretty lucky that I've been able to go to the Leeds Film Festival these past few years. It was the Cowboy Bebop movie 4-5 years ago in it that got me into anime (well, apart from stuff like Dragonball that I used to watch as a teenager on tv, or the rare anime films that get European cinema releases like Miyazaki's stuff). The next one is going to be the last one I'll be able to go to in all probability, and there's always good anime so I'll be sure to post about what I've seen come November.

Having been reminded of Paprika it occurs to me that I've had the Tokyo Godfathers DVD for over a year now and haven't gotten round to watching it!

I wish there was something like that near me, as i'd love to see some more anime on the big screen.

You really should watch Tokyo Godfathers soon, it's good :) (I managed to get the LE cheap a while back).

If anyone is interested it looks like Victorian Romance Emma is shipping from TRSI now :)
Hopefully mine will ship tonight/tomorrow and be here soon (probably about a week after shipping).

I've just finished Negima, which was exceedingly good fun, and the last 4 episodes were great (I absolutely loved the last one), i'm probably going to make a start on Tsubasa or the Tenchi Movies next.

On a Negima related theme came across this earlier, (note that there is a link to download them all at the end of the post and insert disclaimer about not being responsible for killing your computer and all crops within a 50mile radius etc etc).

Watched disk 2 of Strawberry Panic earlier. Must be certain fetish of one group of Japanese where they like girls schools, french and religious undertones and restrained lesbianism (although it's a bit less restrained in this than in Maria-sama). Series seems generally good so far even if it does lack anything resembling being deep and meaningful :) Very much on the upside is that after two volumes you already have the first eleven episodes.

Got a couple of wall scrolls this week, (FMP and MOHS), although one of them was damaged (MOHS) so I'm sorting out a replacement at the moment with the vendor. Need to try putting up the FMP one at the weekend (which should be interesting as where I want to put it is not really that accessible ... )

A quick note, I didn't realise it but Rightstuff are doing a load of Geneon titles for $5-15 including mini sets and LE's (normal disk price seems to be $5 or $10, LE's/double disks $15).
However it ends at 23:59 tonight US time (so about 4-5am in the morning).

*mutter* why do they never have the old Geneon titles that I actually want *mutter*

Watched Tekkonkinkreet yesterday ... to be honest, whilst the animation of the city was nice, I did not really like it. Didn't really get any feeling of empathy with the characters so didn't care what happened to them at all.

Read volumes 2-4 of Eiken this morning ... quite amusing and definitely better than the OVA of this series.

Got the FMP wall scroll up too ;)

Good to hear as i was left wanting `more` after watching the OVA`s it seemed to start partway through the story and chopped off short in my opinion :)

Finally got around to watching Samurai Champaloo the other day, (it's been on my "to watch" pile for longer than I care to think about! .... wow ... it's **** good, more adult humour than some of the other series you see.

In fact it was so good I actually bought my Dad a copy of the boxset for his Birthday as I knew he would like it (and he is).

:)

Hey, I've got a quandry. Won a competition on another forum, and I can pick either 'My Neighbor Totoro' or The Place Promised in Our Early Days'. Is one much better than the other, or are the both things you should watch, or anything like that?

Stuff I like: Code Geass, GitS, Asumanga, Haruhi, Lucky Star.

hmmm .... difficult, they are both good films. Totoro is lighter in feel than the other and is probably aimed at a slightly younger demographic but the visuals in Place promised are very very good.

Personally I'd get both (:)) with Totoro from this, purely as a quick check around UK online retailers shows that currently this costs more then Place Promised (£12 vs. £5 but I didn't look that hard).

I can't pick both, he's having a clearout of his old DVDs, and I got one for being interesting :D

Still, that seems the best idea, get the more expensive one for free, and pick up the other for cheap. Thankee :)

Ok, question time. As I said a few posts back I got my Dad Samurai Champaloo for his birthday the other week. Now he really enjoyed it and wonders if there is anything else with a similar "feel", (i.e. a more adult humour (adult as in grown up not explicit)).

I'm thinking possibly the series of Cowboy Beebop but does anyone else have any suggestions?

(on another point; note to self ... must stop impulse buying anime dvd's off loopstah on that auction site ...)

As you say Cowboy Bebop is a must for the same sort of feel seeing as its by the same director/writer. Similar I would say Kenshin the TV series, seasons one and two are great but with season three they kind of lost it IMO.

Hmmm i've only got the Movie and OVAs for Kenshin ... haven't actaully got round to seeing them myself yet and don't have the series .... I'll have a look into that. Cheers.

I see on AnimeonDVD they are reporting about an Auction today in Houston which was basically selling off the ADV office contents. At least they indicate that Welcome to the NHK has resumed its dubbing after the Crunchyroll deal ... theres only a couple of disks left :(

Aye I saw the ADV thing, it's bit worrying, but this auction could (and likely is) just them clearing out stuff that is no longer required, which would be pretty normal (i've seen it happen even when various companies have moved offices - it can be cheaper to start off with new furniture than move the old).

It's worrying if looked at as a new thing, but not so bad if it's seen as a continuation of a previous issue. that is being concluded (closing PIQ would have left them with a lot of stuff to store/dispose of, and the timing would be right).

I think it was mentioned that it wasn't stuff from the main ADV offices, which it would be if it was more serious :)

On a slightly happer note, my Victorian Romance Emma set arrived this morning from TRSI, so i'll probably be watching that tonight/tomorrow.
