How many games do you buy on average per month for ps3/360?

Simple question/discussion.

People always say the ps3 has no games available and the 360 is better because it has a huge back catalogue in comparison (partly due to longer time on market and partly due to MS having much better developer relations this gen compared to last gen).

I am of the firm opinion that average folk/kids/students etc buy maybe 1 game a month if that and normally it is a new release.
Apart from people who play games an unhealthy amount of time, I can;t think most people have time (and to an extent, money) to be shelling out for these huge back catalogues of games.

I think average people buy new releases and seldom look at old games, purely because they are "old" as such. They just go straight to the top10 section of the shop/site and order a "new release"

I think every game I own on 360 or ps3 was bought in it's release week, if not month. I don't think I have time or money to go back and buy these older games so doubt they would be used as a purchasing decision if I was to buy a console now (moot point as I have both at the moment).

Thoughts? Polite Discussions? Poll?

I used to buy a lot of 360 games every month but that was because i was an achievement whore :o if they hadn't had the achievement system no doubt i would have played/owned a lot less games on the 360.

As for the PS3 i'd say 1 game every 2 months.. All multi format games i get on the 360 but this is mainly because i prefer the 360 controller/LIVE/achievements.

If funds permitted Id buy each game on release that looked remotely intresting, so would be on about 5 games a month.

Because Im jobless on uni hols I can only really afford 1 a month, which is why 'older' titles are considered and thus is even more annoying as im now officially able to play games for an unhealthy amount of time.

Less than one a month. If you'd like a number it would be 0.5 per month. ;)

This pitiful purchase rate is due to the hefty price tags on new 360 titles and a simple 'meh' reaction to the line up. That said I do play on my 360 more than my PC these days (), but I only really devote that time to Forza 2.

In my PC gaming prime it would've been 2-4 titles per month, and they would have been all 'on the go' at the same time.

Only had my console for a few months, so have been buying a fair few games a month (6 to 12), but mosts are obtained cheaply 2nd hand, or on specials, while I have been trying to figure out which game-types I like and which I don't.

The only new/full price title I have bought is GTA 4, which I then traded in for NJ2 as it bored me to tears.

I have probably hit the point now where I am slowing right down, and doubt I will get more than 3/4 games a month, depending on whats available. NJ 2 would probably have kept me entertained for the rest of this month, but I really want to get Alone in the Dark.

I used to buy games at an avg of 1-2 a week. I ended up having this huge back catalogue that I still haven't got round to playing.

I now try and enforce a policy of buying a new game or two when I have finished my current games.

This has cut me down to buying a new game roughly every 8-10 weeks.

2-3 on average I reckon, for the 360. Usually it's a combination of new releases and old games. There's often games that I wouldn't buy brand new but will quite happily purchase when they're less than £20. Generally I like bargain hunting so quite a few games of late have only cost me £5 or so.

Used to be 4-5 when I was working full time, but I've cut back recently due to various circumstances changing hugely in the past 2 months.

probably 1 or 2, but theres nothing otu at the minute so ive had about 1 over the last 2 months. All my times going to PC gaming again now.

1 maybe 2 a month. Although I tend to rent a few titles too. Just like playing my way through, getting rid, getting the next latest game.

Has to be done :D

About one every 2 months for me on the 360, and one every 4 months for the ps3*.

* Although I have spent over a 100 pounds on Singstar DLC.

Depends on the month, recently it has been 1 or 2 a month, last year in the craziness before Christmas it was 3 or 4.

I don't intend on buying any games (After Crisis Core) from now until Sep/Oct though.

I want to really get into MGO and replay MGS4 a few times, I do also rent games from boomerang.

I've still only got the game I got with my PS3 - GTA4. I'm renting everything else for now, including MGS4 which I got on release day. I'm not paying £40 for a game, at least not unless I really really loved a demo or something, especially with all the crap that's been going round recently.
