Simple question/discussion.
People always say the ps3 has no games available and the 360 is better because it has a huge back catalogue in comparison (partly due to longer time on market and partly due to MS having much better developer relations this gen compared to last gen).
I am of the firm opinion that average folk/kids/students etc buy maybe 1 game a month if that and normally it is a new release.
Apart from people who play games an unhealthy amount of time, I can;t think most people have time (and to an extent, money) to be shelling out for these huge back catalogues of games.
I think average people buy new releases and seldom look at old games, purely because they are "old" as such. They just go straight to the top10 section of the shop/site and order a "new release"
I think every game I own on 360 or ps3 was bought in it's release week, if not month. I don't think I have time or money to go back and buy these older games so doubt they would be used as a purchasing decision if I was to buy a console now (moot point as I have both at the moment).

if they hadn't had the achievement system no doubt i would have played/owned a lot less games on the 360.
