Nvidia GTX 280 - IN STOCK NOW!!!

I'm just a postie!, phoned up the place just now and they said they are due in today but probably wont get sent out until tomorrow so i'm looking at Wednesday before i can have a play about.

Is that intercepting somebody elses order? :p

I started off with PC gaming, moved to my 360 mostly, but now I almost feel like going back to PC gaming. Sick of all the games on the 360 with framerate issues and tearing, sick of the lack of dedicated servers for online games meaning horrible lag most of the time, and there's no decent balanced competitive games really.

360 is alright but it's not as good as I thought it would be especially considering the accumulated cost of the console, games and a HDTV.

That is unfair, the performance gain is quite substantial compared to previous generation single GPU cards.

Not what I have seen. We are talking of a 5 - 10fps increase at my native res. not worth £470.

When will NVIDIA learn that charging over the odds for extra profit = bad idea.

I wouldn't mind if we where talking about a 25 - 30% increase in performance but we aint!

They might be in 6 -12 months but you have to look at the price of the 4850 and 4870 cards.

4850 = £130ish
4870 = £230 ish

Therefore 4870x2 will be £460ish

Don;t forget the 4870 is meant to be quicker than a 3870x2 so why would ATI sell the 4870 for less than the 3870x2? Nvidia certainly isn;t with the GTX280 vs GX2.

3870 was faster than a 2900XT, yet it was cheaper.

You're also forgetting that ATi have stated that they don't intend on releasing cards over $499. Realistically, I can't see a 4870 coming out at £230, they're not intending them to be their high-end, that's what the X2 is for. Remember when the 3870X2 came out, it was $499 in the US, over here it was £299 (some places even had it for less), a direct $ to £ conversion = £255 + VAT = £299, so I'd say that was the upper tier we can expect to pay for one (price gouging aside). The 4870 therefore couldn't be over £200 for the reference board, and I say £200 at a push, I think it'll be more £160-£180 then drop once the X2 comes out. ATi aren't stupid enough to charge almost twice the cost of a 4850 for a 4870 when the performance difference is around 30%.

:o

Read *** FAQ again, its doesnt say NO shop talk, you just cant discuss orders, returns etc, or obviously badmouth OcUK.

Yeah but seriously it is double standards, you mention anything shop related and they shut you down quicker than a car that goes really quick.

Definately looks like my build later this year is going to have some ati hardware in it, unless the new cards are behind the 8800GT.
