Nvidia GTX 280 - IN STOCK NOW!!!

It's slower than the 9800GX2 unlike the 8800GTX which crushed everything in its path.

I've had a GX2, and it suffers from many problems, including micro-stuttering and low minimum FPS in many games. The GT280 is a single-GPU card that will actually provide better experience even if maximum FPS is lower.

I was expecting something in the region of £380 for the GTX 280....I'm frankly speechless.

Definitely waiting to see what ATi has to offer.

Well i only paid £20 more for mine, just have to shop around, although ocuk have them in stock and i might have to wait an extra day or two.

I am never spending over £150 on a gpu ever again just not worth it with so few games requiring much more than an 8800gt these days or on the horizon can see my gt lasting until well in to next year.
It's just not worth the loss you incur so fast, whos to say these 280 wont be only £200 second hand in a matter of months.
Hopefully gone are the days of having to spend £400 to get max details on new games.

here here

£470 is too expensive for a Graphics card infact so is £400 which I've seen it priced at without stating competitors of course. (Yes people with a half a brain cell shop around.)

I bought my OCZ 8800GTX not long after release in the USA for around £320 including customs & delivery & that card has a lifetime warranty.

Graphics cards loose value way too excessively, if I was going to make an upgrade of my current graphics card it would be no more than £250 & boost fps by average 20fps to make it worth my while.

Hopefully the ATI 4870 series will be more reasonably priced at release, if not I'll wait longer I wont be pushed into paying excessive costs for a graphics card ever again.

Your all going to cave in during the next few weeks and you all know it.

All this talk of not buy it is just you trying to convince yourself not to buy it, Then you will find a reason to justify buying it lol. Such as, You were going to buy something else for £400 then decided not to, Then decided ah what the hell I was going to spend the money anyway, Might aswell as get the GTX 280. :)

We need a card that gives results like the 8800GT did when it was released. If the 4850 is priced around £150 I rekon that could be it.

Yeah but isn't it the case where all games and programs will recognise it as DX10 so this multisample readback will literally never be used.

It even says there

""We support Multisample readback, which is about the only dx10.1 feature (some) developers are interested in. If we say what we can't do, ATI will try to have developers do it, which can only harm pc gaming and frustrate gamers."

The policy decision that has lead us to run into this type of response at every turn is reprehensible. Aside from being blatantly untrue at any level, it leaves us to wonder why we find ourselves even having to respond to this sort of a statement. Let's start with why NVIDIA's official position holds no water and then we'll get on to the bit about what it could mean."

Actually, the main feature of dx10.1, multisample readback is supported.

And they can't do dx10.......what?

Its well known Nvidia can not do Dx10, Microsoft had to change the Dx10 spec into something they could do as only ATi could do it, which they did, so really ATi are running Nvidia's Dx10 and not Microsofts, as they are now running the spec that Nvidia could only do.:p

Meh I'll go with whoever has the best bang for buck card, was GeForce 460, then x800, then x1900, then 8800GT, looks a like 4850 this time around for me, I'd rather buy another decent rig than a £500 card.

i wouldn't spend more than £150 on a gpu. If i cant get the 4850 delivered to my house for £150 or less, then im getting myself an 8800gt (which hopefully go down with these new releases :p )

btw the people complaining about sli problems, there is no microstuttering noticable and apparently only seen at low fps, i couldnt see it coming from a gtx. i would usually be the first to notice such a thing but can honestly say ive not noticed

I'm busy still skipping the last gen too. If you can call a rehash of old GPUs a new gen.

My 2900XT has yet to find a game (apart from Crysis) that it can't play on max. Let's just hope Farcry 2 works :)

What frame rate do you get on TF2 but in general you are right. At least this new card has a memory bus to match the 2900xt
