Well some people can afford it. My boss just spent £6600 on a set of tyres for his Lamborghini Murceliago and his Aston Martin Vanquish lost him £34,000 in depreciation for 3000 miles (£11.33 per mile :eek:

) so £1000 to him is like a tenner to me.

Yep, if no one bought anything though, we wouldn't all have LCD and Plasmas for peanuts... I know my 56" TV was £2900 18 months ago... insane... I'd probably get £400 for it if I sold it now... not good...

What a comparison a lambo to a gfx card, showing up in a lambo to take your woman out is a damn good impression. Telling her to come over and see your GTX280 run 3dmark is just damn sad i know which one i would rather have

Hardly the same though. Telling her to come and see your 425 GTX280 in SLI super computer might work though

Then again, if that did impress her, I wouldn't want to go out with her anyway.

In vista its pretty low noise. I cant hear it over anything else in my PC but after a few min of AoC the fan definitely speeds up and makes quite a bit more noise than my Arctic Cooling Accelero Xtreme does on the 8800GTX.

As for performance there is a big difference in AoC. The game is running very smooth and my fps as gone up a good 25-30 with the same settings but what is impressive is I can put AA right up to full from x2 and there is pretty much no performance hit.

I hope with driver development this card will last as long as my 8800GTX did. I just put that card back in its box and found the OCUK receipt still in there from 8-Nov-2006 when I spent 497.31 Total!!

Heatsinks look odd on these cards, looks like a mix of the back half being from the 9800gx2 and the front half being from the 9800gtx.

Okay, I must have got it wrong. It was late and I was tired. Unless ocuk where doing some computer work and it altered for a while.

18 or so months after the 8800GTX, and i am NOT in the least bit impressed, tbh

9800GX2 was slated when released. It was too expensive, and not fast enough. Now its suddenly the holy grail. People here really crack me up. I would rather have this than have to mess about with sli. Thats the appeal of it.
