Well some people can afford it. My boss just spent £6600 on a set of tyres for his Lamborghini Murceliago and his Aston Martin Vanquish lost him £34,000 in depreciation for 3000 miles (£11.33 per mile
) so £1000 to him is like a tenner to me.

Well I remember the 8800GTX launching and how many people bought one on or close to release day - how many people here have bought a GTX 280 ?
I bought an 8800GTX on launch day Nov 2006 and I just got my 280 GTX today!
What a comparison a lambo to a gfx card, showing up in a lambo to take your woman out is a damn good impression. Telling her to come over and see your GTX280 run 3dmark is just damn sad i know which one i would rather have.
^JP^ - how loud is the cooler?
Then again, if that did impress her, I wouldn't want to go out with her anyway.![]()
It's laughable when you consider what's possible with a 360/ps3 at their prices.
I think your eyes where playing tricks on you.
I hope with driver development this card will last as long as my 8800GTX did. I just put that card back in its box and found the OCUK receipt still in there from 8-Nov-2006 when I spent 497.31 Total!!
so do I, as im sure since they've been on sale, only the BFG 280's have been in and saying 10+, which hasn't changed.![]()
Way, Way, WAY too expensive...
it doesn't have any justification, IMO, ESPECIALLY when the 9800GX2 is cheaper, but basically does the same thing.
as someone else said somewhere, is this nVidia opening a can of whoop-***?!?!?! and, where's all the 'you'll be blown away when the NDA lifts; nVidia has made another 8800GTX leap forward'???
I think statements came to that effect from TechReport...
18 or so months after the 8800GTX, and i am NOT in the least bit impressed, tbh
