Funny that; I was listening to 'And Justice For All' for the first time in ages today... Being a bassist, I could never forget the basslessness, but I had completely forgotten how bad Lars' kit sounds. Ouch.

Actually, you tube might help out here, some guy has put together some reworked versions, mainly of the bass work. Worth a listen.
Brilliant album, no band will come close to that again, not even Metallica :).

Theres a proper full album called And Justice For Jason.
Theres also a remix of St Anger called This Anger Lives.

You should get your hands on the remix.
So is there a proper remix available? Other than the bass-overdubbed tracks that helmet has mentioned, I've only heard the original. Hope so, as musically this was their finest hour in my opinion. Yes, even better than [insert Cliff-era album here].

There's also This, it appears, though it overcompensates just a little :D

Death Magnetic? :D :confused::confused: :rolleyes::rolleyes:

Shameless copy of your thoughts on the title and a fix applied.
10/10, don't bother seeing me after class.

Are you crazy? The Black Album was clearly their best - while the previous albums had some standout tracks and collectively more classics than Black, it was their first cohesive, consistent album and the peak of their evolution as a band. Everything else afterwards was second rate or a cover.

I'd grade your reply D- Must try harder.

I've loved every album up to St Anger. Loved their newer stuff (after Black album) just as much as the old stuff as those albums were released around the time I was getting a proper interest in music.

St Anger was a huge let down and sounded like it was unfinished. 7 minute songs with no solos? That wasn't the Metallica I knew.

Here's hoping they make a decent album this time round

God no, Master of puppets is their best, closely followed by and justice, then black imo.

HA!

I'd rather not give my money to these idiots. They haven't released anything significant in over a decade and they've shown themselves to be rather vocallly uninformed money grabbing penis holsters.

I agree again.
I also think they should give all their work away for nothing just like other bands do.

MOP was their only decent album, the rest had the odd decent track until St.Anger which was woefull.

And Lars Ulrich is nothing special on the drums, which is their main downfall for me.

Slayer's latest album on the other hand ROCKS!

It's a shame that it's "his" band or he would have gone ages ago. Lars is a fool

I find him jarring and irritating and under his "leadership" the band has gone from bad to worse. The last good metallica album had Cliff burton on it. Justice for All, Black album, Load, Re-Load, S&M, Garage Inc. & St. Anger have all been awful and bland.

I think Lars is a pretty good drummer personally and a bit underated, also he just wants whats best for his band i guess, wouldn't anyone?
It's made him a lot of money and it's something he's dedicated his life to.

The whole internet thing was crap, but it was blown out of proportion by the media anyway.

I do think the name of the new album is pants though, and the band are past it. :)

Hes god awful, hes a complete tool aswell, i dont think his skill is good st anger one of the rudiments he played they chopped and spliced because he couldnt do it more than 2 bars long.

While I dont entirely disagree with your sentiments, to be fair, when I've seen them live, Lars manages to keep up with the STANGER tracks (thats right thats how I say it) and also dyers eve.

But, Metallica would be ten times better with a skilled drummer, but they would be perceived better if he wasn't at the fore front with the media stuff, he just comes across like a rat, but you know, I like that little ****er

Well I liked St Anger. Forget their personalities, whether the drummer is technically proficient, I enjoyed the album. I still do enjoy the album. I prefer it to most of their other stuff.

When I saw them at Download and he didn't play due to illness, every single drummer they recruited (at short notice I must add) absolutely blew him out of the water - even his drum roadie! Joey Jordison from Slipknot was amazing and gets my vote to replace Lars should he finally get the boot.
