Value of an WoW account, wow.

It's difficult for you to take a moral high ground here. An item is worth what people are willing to pay for it. It's not up to you what is acceptable and what isn't, i'm afraid.
I wouldnt pay more than £100 for a watch, and i find it impossible to fathom why people would spend upwards of £4,000 for a Breitling... doesn't make it wrong though does it :)
 
Love to let someone i can trust level mine up for me while im working instead of selling it off lol..

o well, time to remove AoC and put WOW back on the PC.

I used to think that but to be honest if someone has the money but not the time - both of which are commodities - why is it only acceptable that they use one to get ahead in the game, but not the other?

£1000 sounds like a lot of money for a Jedi account, for example, but most people make more than that in a month - and if you looked at it as a straight trade between spending that time freelancing, doing overtime, or whatever and being paid real life money for it vs spending that amount of time in game, earning no actual money - I'm sure it works out to be cost-effective.

It's a service at the end of the day - a player who places a low value on their personal time grinds the account/items, and a player who places a high value on their personal time just pays for the effort of the 1st. Is it really any different than someone paying for a painting, or a work of art, or whatever?

The argument of whether it's worth *anything* to pay for virtual items that ultimately Blizzard (or whoever) "own" is another debate really.

i think the first rogue with both legendary swords from BT sold for over $10,000.

Often sold accounts and traded left right and centre and original owners try to steal them back when they feel the crave again, so be warned...
 
Reminds me of a good old UO act from a long time back. A gamemaster (paid staff member) called GM Darwin, would delete a load of players houses to make some room, place a castle, then sell the castle on ebay for a lot of cash. As a GM he could do this as much as he wanted and made quite a bit of money for no effort before he was found out and fired.

Of course this was back in the innocent old days when buying and selling over ebay wasn't looked down on and quite easy to do.
 
Interesting thread this. I don't play WoW but have just lost interest in my LOTRO game with lifetime membership, would be interested in knowing how much I could fetch for that.

That is, assuming there is interest for LOTRO accounts, as it isn't quite on the scale of WoW.

That email is either a fake or the poster actual thinks it will work but actually selling accounts isnt nothing to do with blizzard, the only thing blizzard is in charge of and allows is swapping your characters between your OWN 2 accounts.

My lvl60 lock has been inactive for well over a year, maybe two. Do Blizzard ever delete accounts, or if I get the two year itch can I get him back?

(gulps at the thought of applying all those patches again!!)

Yeah I remember the bbc news article on that rogue, the guy who wanted to buy it was a rich person or something, and the rogue's original owner was feeling the crunch in his real life priorities - so he had no choice but to accept really. I'm sure he did himself a masssive favor out of it though. It's a lot of money, can pay off a lot of debts.
 
Was wondering as i'm looking to sell my t6 account. I've never used paypal before so haven't a clue on how to not get scammed.

What should I look out for and when should I hand over my wow account details / secret question and answer?

Considering he promptly re-rolled another rogue, which is now equally well geared (dual glaives etc), I think I've got a good idea where his priorities lie :D
 
Pre-BC and late Naxx times accounts were at their peak, with top of the top geared characters selling for thousands and thousands of euros.

Nowadays a character with the equivalent effort spent on it would be hard pushed to reach 600 euros.
 
I'm desperatley trying to sell my tier4/5/crafted, full epic lock. haven't played him in close to a month and i'm not going to be ever again! Going on tour with my band, So i might aswell quit for good. How much would that be worth ? I'd rather sell to a fellow ocuk'er, haven't even tried wowtrade and all that, scammers!
