I really hope that's true although I can't find anything concrete on it, the mail have a similar story but £4.5m, either will do though
I'm a Villa fan, and I'm afraid it's been a done deal for quite a while now, although I believe it will be more than £5m unfortunately.
I know the other part of the deal is your beloved Barry - but you have got the better of both deals imo
Certainly think Sidwell will fill Barry's shoes relatively easily
Don't get me wrong, I think Steed played extremely well last season, but he's not a left winger by nature. I'd just prefer to see us sign a player whose natural position was left wing.
They way its going at the moment I dont see Everton singing any one.

Probably because he is right footed so out of position there, I guess Melbranque should be back up quality and they have a real left winger for a team chasing top 3

Steed did a good job I am not going to dispute that, however, he is right footed and there lies the problem. We want a balanced side and playing a right sided player on the left doesn't solve the problem. Also, with Lennon being out of form, Steed might be used on the right hand side, or through the middle where he is happiest. That is of course, if we dont get Bentley.
However, for me, I will never forget him for not stepping up to take that penalty against PSV in the UEFA Cup last season.
The complete opposite to every England International then.
He could probably do a job given a chance to show his stuff in more, competitive matches. I'd take him at Man Utd.

if UTD could buy him for 12-15mill that would be good.
However, Bayern would want more for the talent, they dont NEED to sell...but he isnt really worth much more to us...
