Swallowing Pills

i cant swollow any kind of pills/tablets - i always crush my paracetomol into quatres before being able to down it with water..

I just found a few of these baby's in my cupboard, they are both 500mg Paracetamol's, the one on the left is the standard size to give you a comparison, don't think I'd manage sallowing that beast.

Need a ruler or something to scale it.

That could be the size of a football !

Yeh i mean if you can get water in the lungs is it not possible other bits and bobs could have slid down the throat into them.

You would cough and choke and splutter, your eyes would run, your nose would run, you could have problems breathing; gasping and coughing violently... basically you would know if something went down there. You wont have a collection of stuff at the bottom of your lungs, you know, fluff, old coins, the odd plastic soldier etc.

Now, fire... there's another important one. Dont touch it. It might look pretty and inviting but it will hurt you if you touch it. Get mummy or daddy to help if you find some fire lying around.

Be safe :)

Don't those new ones have 500mg paracetamol + some dihydracodine, and they only the size of one of those little capsules. Are you meant to dissolve the big one?

I have to take dozens of tablets, I can take five or more at once and usually don't need water LOL It took years though, and one top tip for swallowing them when you struggle is to take them with a fizzy drink. The carbon dioxide bubbles basically help to "lift" the tablet and carry it down your throat. Try it if you don't believe me! Take a mouthful of it first, hold it, pop the tablet between your lips, then swallow. Even the kids manage it this way :)

After my recent stay in hospital I'm currently taking around 16 tablets a day at the moment split between morning and evening - so I've kind of got things down to a fine art.
Even the "torpedo" style ones (that honestly look and have the size that could mean they could go in either end!) go down fine.

When I was in hospital the fella beside me was having problems getting tablets down.
The pharmacist would use a tablet cutter and cut the tablet into either 2 or 4 which helped him.
One just wouldn't cut properly and nearly always ended up near crushed - the pharmacist didn't seem to think that was a problem.

If you can't take normal ones try capsules, I used to have to have those when I was younger as I couldn't take normal ones. It's easy to take pills now however, without water too
