Nvidia GTX 280 - IN STOCK NOW!!!

well whoever wants the best card for the money is one thing, but then there are those out there who want all out speed to power thier multi monitors or 30incher 2560x1600 rez screens.

And that will be two 4870x2 in crossfire. Even if it is cheaper.

So why did Nvidia launch the GX2 then?

God your mad. The GTX280 in SLI will beat two 4870's but would it beat two 4870x2 in xfire? Not a chance!

Okay you go spend £900 on a two GTX280 and I'll spend £660 on teo 4870x2. :D

Take a look at this to see how close even the budget 4850 is getting to your beloved GTX280.

not even gonna bother with that review, its not even in english. let the final reviews do the real justice. but i doubt 2x4870's will out do 2xgtx280's

i wonder what 2x 4870x2 in crossfire x (660pounds ..ish) vs 2x gtx280 (900pounds)

would compare?

ok ati will have 2 more gpu but look at the saving's that a 45nm quad right there :)

omg i just got beaten to the same thing ive said above..oh well still true though.

why would anyone want that crossfire setup if its going to be considerably slower?

Whatever. You live on your own little world if you think a 4870x2 is going to be slower than GTX280.

I've had enough. There is no point arguing with you cause balck is white where you are concerned.

No, but 2 4870X2's will be ;)

you you believe 2x 4870x2's will be faster than quad sli gtx280? thats 4 cores vs 4 cores no?

seeing as my board only has 1 pci-e socket nothing ati bring to the board may be worth it. especially due to the dodgey nature of dual card configs.

Nah, but quad 4780X2's will be ;) Oh and will be cheaper :)

you trying to dodge the question? first you say crossfire scales better than sli. now your trying to broom that under the carpet since iv shown a little proof to knock you off your high horse. as for the 48 series, not too long to find out how they stand. I know they will fail, im just waiting to find out by how much. if the 4870 cant beat the gtx 260 then ati may as well go bankrupt.

It does scale better. It has the bigger % increase when another card is added on average. It's not about what performs better its who has the biggest gain when a second card added .

Mav I'm not playing your little games this time round you're a proven troll on these forums and have proved your ignorance time and time again.

When you have experience of your own of playing with current gen hardware and not some historic pap maybe I'll take you seriously. Until that time comes I'll continue to laugh at your posts and the lack of credit on these forums.

ATi is about to lay the smackdown on NVIDIA :D

Or open a can of whoop ass? God that was a horrendous line :P

Seems to me there is somewhat of a philosophical approach being adopted here by the Nvidia faithful, in that if there single GPU solution is comparable to the competitions dual GPU, then, they win. Now, I can actually identify with that, dual card solutions do have there problems. However, if ATi are offering you a cheaper quicker solution, its hard to ignore.

The 4870X2 is going to be quite a bit different to the 3870X2, and hopefully much of the crossfire solutions will be resolved (as in working more like a single gpu card, rather than 2 cpus). Yet if the results of the 4850 we are seeing proove to be accurate, they have Nvidia over a barrel. Only those with nforce boards will be in a difficult position (and even they can get a 4870X2 :P).
