Having lunch at work

Really? I've never worked at any of those 'inferior' places, but I get the impression that despite M&S's bad points, it's still better than those chavy supermarkets like Tesco/Sainsburys etc... :p ;)

OT - So I take it you managed to get your old job back after all then?

M&S are probably better quality but Tesco is cheaper. :o

OT - Basically she rang back on the monday night a few hours after i had gone in saying they had nothing for me, cue panic and the thread. Almost exactly 24 hours later, the same manager rang back and said there had been developments and asked if i could start the next day!:)!
So i'm now working 30 hours a week or so on £6.70 i think, very happy but i really should make a CV soon anyways...i've been very lucky.

Thanks for the interest actually. :)

My homemade favourites:

Coronation Chicken (Chicken, mayo + curry powder) in a baguette / pita
Tuna + mayo + sweetcorn with lettuce in a pita / baguette
BLT / Chicken BLT
Chicken salad

ASDA and Morrisons are the cheapest, non-embarassing supermarkets :D. Why anyone would shop at M&S for food i don't know.

if possible i find it nice to go off, may cost a little but breaks the day up and stops me from working all dinner.

Although like most office workers lunch doesent come that often

The small pots of coronation chicken salad etc as Sainsbury's make great cheap(ish) sandwich fillers, if you don't mind the rice that's in them.

Easiest is probably last night's pasta, cold or hot depending on preference and facilities (as both chicken and tomato have stronger flavours cold, this is a combination worth considering).

Roast chicken drumsticks the night before, combine with salad the next day.

Sandwiches - experiment with fillings though. Mango chutney improves cheese ham salad no end, and a bottle of hot pepper sauce on your desk can be used to pep up bland offerings. :)

Order too much Pizza the night before. Then bring it into the office cold - yum :)

Left over curry, wrapped up in a spare naan bread :D

M&S always have some offers on readymeals on during the week so I just pick up enough to last me the week which I microwave in the office. Can't buy the fruit salads all at once though because they're no good if you keep them for a few days - which would be annoying as they're not cheap at M&S

Make something really good for dinner then bring it in for lunch as well :P That or good sandwich or salads are good as well. Pasta bakes are usually the safest to bring in and super cheap.

Cheers for the ideas guys, just been shopping and bought plenty of lunch based supplies as per your suggestions. Think im gunna have to have a coronation chicken sandwhich now though :P
