i dont really count the wii as a console, more of a toy. its a pick up and play thing rather than pick up, and spend hours and hours on sort of thing. wii is in a different league compared to the 360 and ps3. imo of course, others will think differently :p

I've played all of them, whilst I disagree about Hot Shots Golf which is fun, the rest are very average, with Ridge Racer 7 being absolutely appalling.
 
That wasn't entirley my point though, I just meant that I find it hard to take peoples points on things if they have no subjective experience. Kinda seems a bit silly saying X is pants because Y said so. He even pointed out that everyone else has different tastes so he may even love RR7, Im sure some people do. ;)
 
I dont think RR7 is a bad game (not a great game by any means), but its certainly adrenalin pumping when you get the faster cars and tripple boost flying round the corners at 300mph while the car is facing the wrong way (looks like going in reverse ;) ) Only annoyance with ridge racer games is its always you vs 1st place with the other cars an annoyance. the gap between 1st and second can be pretty big.

yeh.. i guess i have put my words in-correctly. im not sure how to say it, other than its aimed at being easy and a quick burst of fun. my brother (he's 28) came round my house and saw me playing mgs4, immediately he said it looks awesome, but it looks too difficult/complicated to play so he's not gonna get it. (he has a wii)

I don't have to have played them to know that Ridge Racer 7 is basically Ridge Racer 6; Heavenly Sword was a disappointment and Motorstorm is graphically superb but a little shallow. I read a lot of neutral publications, see a lot of in game videos and have a lot of friends with PS3's who's opinions I rate highly; i.e. Nokkon.

You'll always get exceptions for example I really enjoyed Two Worlds and hated Eternal Sonata but I wouldn't try to objectively argue the former was 'the better' and anyone who hadn't played it wasn't entitled to call it average at best.

Not so sure. Motorstorm got average marks when it came out, over time it hasn't gotten any better. Warhawk was popular as it was the first and only game of its type on PS3, but not one element of that game was brilliant, hell, for me the best thing about it is the music riff as you highlight over the game on the XMB.

You can. But doesnt it seem a little strange to come into conversations saying this and thats crap. When you have no real personal experience in it?

I mean, I haven't played a lot of games but i have seen videos. And I would never come into a conversation stating they were crap, without actually touching the game.

Motorstorm is average at best, it only got those reviews because it was a launch title for a starved platform. Its a 7/10 at best, same for Resistance.

I simply replied to a question of what I considered top draw 360 games, the reply was a list that included titles that looked distinctly average and was it was touted as I was 'owned'

I never once said they looked crap, just average to good; like the majority of 360 titles. Lair looked crap, I will say that so you can have your next quote.

Of course it's disappointing to me. Unlike many here I'm a gamer and the sooner the PS3 gets a whole raft of AA titles the sooner I'll be inclined to get one and play them.

Hi there, whilst I agree you can have an opinion, you seem to have quite vocal opinions. Out of curiosity which of the games on the list have you played first hand on the ps3 (full versions not demos).

It is strange to me to be so vocal about something you don't have or have easy access to etc. But each to their own. For instance I seldom comment on any Wii games because I don't have one, nor do I have easy access to one, which makes it hard to form a fair opinion on the games. (I have the odd joke about the Wii in a few threads, but tongue firmly in cheek kinda comments).

Obviously you have your 3 "independent publications" and your friends opinions that you like to listen to, but they can only get you so far, nothing replaces real experience imo.

This just goes to prove how subjective all this is, RFoM is honest to god one of the best FPS's I've played since Halo 1, I've played through the game 3 times now, and Motorstorm is one of the best off road racers ever made, *off road*, imo.
