Seems that it is more of a cooler issue than anything else. Possibly to stop them being overclocked so easy as to reach 4870 levels. BTW, the standard paste was replaced by one reviewer and it dropped the temps by about 15 degrees! Certainly not to be sniffed at, and with better fan control or additional cooling I think they will be good to play with

I think what it really comes down to is how good GDDR5 turns out to be, and whether it is worth buying the 4870 for that reason?

Good. Looking around the net most etailers aren;t getting their stock till Monday anyway so I gues ocuk either have loads in already or will have lots more on MOnday.

They haven't put up all the ones they have listed yet.

You should have said skip loads. I think you could only fit one or two cards into a bucket at a push. Sorry but I exaggerate other people's exaggerations and it just gets messed up.

Yes. Cheapest was £211 inc VAT. Cant remember which brand it was though - think it was HIS

The others were ~£220

EDIT: They only had the 512mb flavour

P45 boards aren't too good with crossfired 4850s, they seem to bottleneck them, though not as much as a P35 I suppose. An X38/48 would have been the better option though.

Id recomend the asus P5E only a little more than board he ordered, phone up and swap bald eagle

So why was the 4870 removed? NDA? I'd of just ordered my machine today and left the 4870 on pre order :\ Though I suppose getting it all in the one go is a better idea.
