What worse is that is was actually 0.6% off the first. I'm absolutely devestated. 10 people got firsts this year (and they really did deserve them).
What screwed me over was 50% in an exam, which totally brought my average down. I honestly thought it was my best exam - clearly not.
I'm trying to appeal, but they arn't having any of it. I was lucky enough to be selected for a viva, but it was impossible, they were asking for references which I hadn't even heard of and for motifs of proteins I havn't studied.
I remember being quite happy but more annoyed about getting a 2:1 and not a 1st. Then I got a job and now - several jobs later - I realise that most employers don't even understand what 'grades' (sic) mean in Degrees.
If it doesn't start with an "M" it can say anything it wants
Have we really got to the level where primary school English is now only to be expected from literacy experts? If I was employing somebody who went to university I'd certainly expect them to be able to spell basic English words. Sure the odd mistake is understandable but there were more than that here.
Apparantly i'll get mine next Friday, but i'm on holiday and I won't be expecting mum to understand them enough to read them out over the phone. Hoping for a 2.1 although I need a 2.2 for my PGCE starting in September.
