Bill Gates retires from Microsoft

Love him or hate him, I very much doubt we would be where we are today without Bill and Microsoft. Granted the majority of advancements would have surfaced without MS, but there are many areas where MS led the way. In a time where there were many one hit wonders, MS were constant and to a certain extent shaped the future of computers.

I think the opposite, Gates and MS crippled upcoming technology and have held us back considerably, computers would have been so much better if he hadn't been around to screw it up.

Love him or hate him he's done so much for the industry. :) And probably helped the opposition to Microsoft by being so dominant. :D

However his billions of dollars donation sets him apart truly. Top guy. :)

He's done a great service to anyone who uses a computer.

Good on him.

Edit: to clarify, I mean he's done a great service to anyone who uses a computer by being around, not by retiring ;)

Back in the starting of things he copied the mac UI.. IE the thing we use today.

This was told to me by someone who has been in the DTP business since it started.

So ok, he sold more copies than mac did, but have always followed behind otherwise tbh.

lol, ask your mate who has been in DTP since it started about xerox.

Plus, 'starting of things' for both the pc and microsoft came long before windows.
