age of conan or world of warcraft?

WoW is easy, easy to play and easy to get into. Its very cartoony, brightly coloured graphics. You will have a lot of fun, but if you dont play it 24/7 dont expect to see 50% of the game. The exploration in this game is second to none, the crafting is not as good as EQ2's but better than AoC (as it stands right now)
There are still quite a few people starting new charactors, but these are mainly 'leet' players who only want to group for a few seconds to get their 'phat' loot.

AoC is new and gritty. The graphics are mature, hardcore and look great. This game i can put down and not have to play for a few days. I can go on and play for a few hours and in that time acheive a lot more that i would in wow. The quest system has been implemented so you dont have to spend hours looking for mr loot giver.
AoC is still in its buggy stage (as MMO's do at release), but Funcome seem to be dedicated to sorting these bugs out. I have 2 level 28ish and have never found any bugs appart from falling through the floor 3 times (which i still do on EQ2 and wow to this date!)

Ive played all main stream MMO's out there, AoC is new and therefor a lot of fun for me.

Just try AoC dude! The only problem with WoW is that you will be playing catch up on a lot of servers! There are always plenty of people rolling alts, but no one wants a real noob screwing up a run in WC or SM ;)

Just my opinion!

While i appreciate all opinions, they are still too mixed

im getting impatient too so im gonna download the wow trial in 5 mins.. as i said i could like both games just as much, but if aoc is lacking content then i suppose it will take some months for everything to be sorted.

Can anybody answer my question about skills though? you can fish & do other skills in wow but in aoc its crafting and a few other things right? so there is probably more skills to level up in wow?

WoW has excellent crafting/skills. (although i dont think they are as fun as EQ2).

Fishing, cooking, bandaging - you can do all three.


Gathering skills (you can have only 1) Mining, herberlism (picking flowers!), skinning, disenchanting (breaking down weapons into usable materials) You gather stuff as you quest.

Crafting (again only 1) Apothacary, engineer, armourer, weapon smith, enchanting.

There are probably more but i forget.
Make sure you buy into a skill asap.

AoC's crafting is a bit pap as far as i can tell. Zones which are the only places to gather materials.

Its the newb community that made WoW good for me, but that seems to be long gone now.

If you are using the streaming client expect bad graphics, it only allows the use of low res textures. :)

I think WoW looks great still, it doesn't push the most polygons or shaders but the art style and design is pretty great.

I quit in november mate, i was tempted this week so i reinstalled and logged onto a friends account..

luckily i felt that the game had no appeal to me... it just seemed totally pointless to me. So fortunately for me, the reason i quit is still there :D
 
i tried the demo for about 20 mins or so, i had no idea what i was doing and felt a bit lost tbh

not even a tutorial in the game for where to go etc.. or get started

might be that im tired, but i closed the game after that :o suppose ill try again later
 
Thats part of the magic of MMOs, you do what you want to do and go where you want to go (mostly).

Its what makes them just about the only genre of PC game that I can be bothered to play these days, little to no hand holding, no being told that I must go there and I must do this etc. If I go somewhere or do something its because I want to not because the game tells me that I must go to this door and speak to this man to be able to progress the story
 
i would say AoC for single player experience, i say WoW if you have a lot of time for end game, WoW is all about end game, instances are very polished not like AoC ones,

then doing quests in AoC is much easier and 1-50 lvls experinece is just way better that boring quests in WoW,

but then blizzard really made the expansion (outlands) stand out, theres more quests to do that 10 new lvls you are given, where in Aoc is all grind grind grind from lvl 50-80 (you do get some quests but still needed 10 times more),

if you want some cool monts go for WoW if you want some boring horse go for Aoc,

also the way of getting gold in AoC is a reall joke atm,
