NV to ATI who is gonna jump?

The thing is, the fact that everyone is slating the GTX 280 is purely on price. Say nVidia price cut it to £300 or even £250 and everyone would be right back on that bandwagon.

Well of course, but that's the thing though, we judge graphics cards based on performance and price. If they did drop it to less than a 9800 GX2 it would look to be a very appealing product.

Agh. Now im tempted by a 4870. When are they due out and at what price?

If i can get a decent price for my 8800gtx then i may grab myself a cheapo upgrade to a 4870.

Again, i don't know why i want to do this. the GTX plays everything perfectly at maximum everything so far.

All this talk has just made me want something new for the sake of it!

Its exactly what i've just done. got 170£ for my 8800 gtx going to order a 4870 which will be wednesday hopefully. cost = £200ish

I didnt really need the upgrade but I wanted to.

Get me one for £250 and I'll take if off your hands. Until then I don't want to pay the current GXT280 price when the 4870 for half that price will get me 80-90% (educated guess) of that performance. Are you seriously suggesting we shouldn't take the price into account? :D

Hm i may be very tempted to do this. £30 for what looks to be a pretty good performance increase could well be worth it. alll depends on whether i can sell my gtx tho.

I can see what he mean's but perhaps he is being less than practical in his opinion. I mean Nvidia could come out tommorow with a suprise card that plays crysis literally at a million frames a second but they want to charge you thousands. From a technical perspective it would be great but unfortunetly most of us are tied to that old chest nut money (and women :P).

I sold mine last sunday on the bay. think my timing was probably quite good.

Just recently bought the OcUK 24” therefore next upgrade needs to be the 8800 GTS 320MB, can’t really game at native.

Just waiting to see what the 4870 can do before I decide.

do the unthinkable and choose a lower non-native res. i've had to do that since i got a 22in 1680x1050 screen a few weeks back. i only have a 256mb 3850 so i just play a few games at 1280x800. they look and perform great. in a blind test, i'm not sure many people would be able to tell the difference. :p

i'm still getting a new card but running at a lower res is getting me by in the meantime. (i don't have the money for a new card at the moment. :D)

I only get 30-35FPS in Crysis at 1280x960 all Very High no AA

What card you got ?.

I have the generic eVGA one, clocked at 600/2000, get about 30 also and during very intensive fight it dips down to 25 but still quite playable to me.

Il jump again when I feel the need. I hold no loyalty to the brands and jump from NV to ATi as I see fit. My CPU will probably be the next thing I upgrade anyways!" :p

everyone seems to be going to ati, u think nvidia will see that they have to release a really good card and a good price now? to win their customers back?

because if they carry on like this they will only have enthusiasts left, who have the money to spend.
