we use them in the operating theatre, it means i dont have to scrub and i can show new scrub nurses which implement/tool to pick up before the surgeon asks for it.

saves a lot of hassle, also great for when teaching in lecture theatres.

but he is an o2 theiving scumbag i agree!

Would the beam spread out at that distance kinda like a torch or would it still be a narrow beam.

The one you got is probabaly a lot less powerful, there was a thread not too long ago about these, they have enough power to burst balloons or light a match, I doubt the one you have has anywhere near that amount of power

It's unlikely the helicopter was flying that high, being a police helicopter I would have guessed it wasn't higher than a few thousand feet, could be far less. Given the laser pen has a distance of 5 miles I'd expect it didn't spread out much at all.

I remember on a similar thread a while back, someone mentioned they use a laser pointer in certain conditions when their camera can not auto focus naturaly, but can focus on a laser pointer dot.

They are also good for pointing stuff out, ive used one before at an airsoft game, where sometimes its hard to describe where the enemy is over radio when your team is in different positions.
