only play on res 1024 x 768 and get ridiculous FPS in COD2/COD4 And other games.

i have the money just wondering is it worth it ?

Why have you got such a good PC and restrict yourself to 1024x768? It's like buying a TVR and having it limited to 20mph to help save the children. lol.

Get a nice new 24" TFT Screen. :)

Dont even bother jumping to 20" or 22" it's a waste of time - too small.

Just go straight to 24" in the long run its a better investment.

I've gone from 14" to 15" to 17" to 19" to 24" the 24" widescreens are only 1" bigger in height than a standard 19" non-widescreen.

For the price of a ATI HD 4870 you could buy one of these:-

OcUK Value L2442WD-VA 24" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Glossy Black - £234.99 inc VAT

You wont get any benefit upgrading your graphics card, you wont see an increase in frames per second.

Infact that 8800GTX is being wasted on a 17" Monitor, the only thing thats getting used is your CPU the graphics card isnt even stressed at 1024x768.

Your just wasting £200 for absolutly nothing, may as well throw it away.

So to answer your inital question - Keep the 8800GTX.

You will not regret buying a bigger monitor! I only have a 20 inch widescreen but i was in OcUK today and they have a couple of 27" dell's set up and i want 1 :(

I'll probably settle for a 24" i think
