worth going from 8800gtx to 4870?

i dont want a new monitor.......

im happy playing with a 17"

As you said, you have the money so spend it. Games will look soo much better and be way funner to play on a 22 or 24" monitor. Seriously. Then after that consider upgrading. Please please please don't waste the money. We don't care if you blast your dads FPS because at the end of the day his game looks better and is just as smooth.

Buy the new monitor then get the graphics upgrade later. Then overall it will cost just as much but you get the best of both worlds :).

Your monitr only refreshes at a rate equivalent to 100fps tops. So 900fps still = 100fps

Between 27 and 37...depending on what direction I look at. A lot more if I look up at the sky.Thats everything at high...No AA, 8x AF and high quality set in ATI driver settings.

Thats runing in 64bit mode! You may get more in 32..Im not entirely sure.

Thanks dude your a gem, I used to get between 18 and 26 on that part on my 8800gtx so thats not a bad improvement, I was expecting more though tbh but still not bad, the 4870 seems to kick ass in every other game though.

Dear lord the op post reminds me a line from the Mike Judge Film Idiocracy

"Dont worry man , there are plenty of tards leading really kick ass lives"

Dude, seriously. When you get up to a resolution of that calibre your such a better player. I bet you completely own your dad don't you. Well, you get even faster at playing with a fps rate of over 1000. Its insane, your reaction times seem well fast. There's a benchmark somewhere that shows this in a graph kinda thing. i remember seeing it when i was looking at the eyes maximum perceiveable rate. Its something to do with your eye being forced to push itself enough to comprehend the changes in the frame rate and your eyes get faster at seeing things.

EDIT: Found it, http://pandadan.files.wordpress.com/2007/04/chart.jpg

LOL;):):D

I can only hope you wait for the 4870X2.. The single card will only give you ~300fps extra, a total letdown imo!
