6 month ban and £275 fine for woman who killed a motorcyclist

Friend of mine is in court today for drink driving (she drove from one side of a car park that gets locked at midnight, to the other side so she wouldn't get clamped - copper caught her driving those 10metres) i bet she gets worse than that.

yes she should have driven across the car park, but makes me sick that shes going to get more than someone who has killed a man.

for the recorded she was over the limit by 4 mg of alcohol in her breath test.

ridiculous, she should have been able to do that..

And as for the OP she should have at least got time or a ban for 5 years

Disgusting!

Absolutely bloody ridiculous.

HOW is that a fair sentence? Regardless of gender the cow should have been brought down for being so stupid.

Why was that decided?! Its so wrong.

I think this is disgusting. Yet if i get caught speeding - 3 Points. If i get caught doing over 100 - In most cases 12 month ban.

It seems that people who are causing havoc on the roads are getting let off with it.

I remember on Road Wars once, Man driving down wrong direction of motorway at high speed, while being chased by police. It said he got a 6 - 10 month ban i think, plus £600 to pay.

Its Ridiculous!!

That woman should be sent down for committing such an offence.

How would throwing this woman into an already overcrowded prison system help? What lesson would she learn, or is it just people want 'revenge' rather than rehabilitation?

She has to live with the fact that she killed someone which I'm sure will affect her for the rest of her life.

so youd rather she was left on the road driving with you?

So if i went out and got absolutely wasted, then drove home and ran somebody over, i shouldn't go to prison? I would have to live with the fact i had killed someone, but that isn't punishment enough.

Do you really think she'll ever do something like that again? Answer my question - how would throwing her into prison help?

To serve as a punishment for driving on the wrong side of the road and killing somebody directly through her actions?

I must have missed the part where this woman got wasted and then got into a car knowing she was.

its punishment. shes how got to get a lift around for 6months. yet can carry on life as normal.

hows that fair? when the victims wife / kids (not sure if he had kids) now has no husband / father. etc

So you want revenge rather than any rehabilitation (would they send her on a safe tissue use course in prison?). Thanks for answering my question. :)

Deliberately missing my point doesn't help your argument.

My point was just because she has to live with the consquences of her stupidity, doesn't mean she shouldn't have to go to jail.

Same as if i drunk drove and killed someone (which would have been MY consquence of MY stupidity).

Can't believe i actually had to spell that out to you...

Prison isn't just about rehabiliation. Believe it or not, it is also there to serve as a punishment...

come on. how can she have any rehabilitation??

she'll get free counciling to help her get over what shes done. so saying "she'll have to live with knowing what shes done for life......." means nothing. as she'll get help for that.

I'm afraid you are the one that has totally missed the point gargyle, but judging from your tone you are just looking for an argument so I will bid you good day. :)

Sorry mate, but unless you've been in her situation you have no idea what you are talking about.

Oh the ironing!

You come into a thread, where a woman kills a man by driving like a moron and when everyone else is condemning the sentence handed down by the judge you decide to say "she doesn't deserve prison".....and i'm the one looking for an argument?!

lol....just lol

It was an accident. She wasn't driving dangerously or drunk, but she was driving without due care and attention. It unfortunately led to the death of the rider but it was not done on purpose. I just don't see how a custodial sentence would help at all, apart from people wanting 'revenge'. This woman is not a dangerous criminal that needs to be taken off the street, she's also probably a safe driver but for a moments lapse of concentration.

We've already got an overcrowded prison system so I'd rather see real criminals being locked up for decent amounts of time rather than lock some woman up who had a car accident.
