Not going to go in to this much because I have before and people know my stance but Hleb is vital to our game in every 3rd of the pitch.
The trouble here is, I'd say this isn't proven in the stats, and you say it's all thanks to his magical dribble-to-nowhere-and-pass-to-someone-nearby ability that can't be measured by simple stats, so we're never really going to reach agreement on that, are we?
But to be perfectly franks, if the chips are down and we need someone to pull their socks up and make an impact, it certainly wouldn't be Hleb. I'd sooner rely on Fabregas, van Persie/Eduardo (if fit!), Walcott, or hell, even an inch-perfect long-ball/cross from Clichy to set us up/get a goal from nothing.
Hleb on the other hand is one of a kind in terms of the job he does for us and the way we play, he's perfect. If Hleb leaves Fabregas will suffer, the guy has even said it himself. Realistically there isn't anyone we can sign that could come in and contribute to our overall play like Hleb does. Arshavin might have been that man but he's off to Barcelona.
Ah, the good old Euros hype. Arshavin has two good games, and he's the second coming.
Don't get me wrong, I
do think Hleb is a very good player, and I'd rather have him at the club than not, but I just don't enjoy him messing us about like this, and I don't think he's as good as he apparently thinks he is, and isn't as key to our team as you'd contend.
Anyway, Adebayor:
1. I have doubts about whether he can replicate this season's form, infact I wouldn't be surprised at all if it was just an incredible purple patch.
So give him the benefit of the doubt first? Unless a ridiculously good offer comes in (and tbh, I'm not entirely certain I believe these £25m+ rumours), I don't see why we shouldn't keep faith with him.
2. I think he can be replaced easily, infact I think we can get an upgrade. Ade scored many goals last season but in reality he should have had double his total. He is still a poor finisher.
But here's the rub - do you know why he managed to get so many goals despite being a "poor finisher"? Because he doesn't give up. That's a lot more irreplaceable than you give it credit for. Of all the forwards I saw in the Premiership last season, I'd say maybe only three of them gave that much to the team, consistently - Ade, Torres, and Tevez. Everyone else would give up on occasion, and not try as hard. So, given that we're never going to sign those other two, I'm guessing we should look abroad?
Let me guess, Etoo? Don't make me laugh, you think Henry sulked and went missing occasionally, just wait til we got Etoo.
3. If he doesn't go this summer, he'll be off next summer or the summer after because he's that type of player. Dreams of the bigger teams. Can see us turning down a massive offer and then eventually seeing him go for half of what we could have had.
Ignoring the fact you apparently know how he thinks, do we
really need the money though? I mean, the club is well off as it is. We might not have gotten the most we could have for Henry, but we got his best years out of him

. If Ade does well next season, his price won't drop, if he doesn't, then fine, let him go.
I just would really rather not disrupt the team any more than we already have by losing Flamini. There's a great group at the club, and if we sort out the captaincy problem, and sign a decent Flamini replacement, and Rosicky/Hleb cover, we'll be well up for contending next season.
