Deus Ex - Invisible War. Any good?

i didnt like the game, the physics in it felt a bit on par with the old star wars games, feathers dropped like a brick if you get the logic. blotchy shadows, bad action scenes.

The phiysics and game mechanics really let this one down. Weapons are a bit pea-shootery.

If you can stomach that its quite good. It's got nothing on the origional. DX1 was a true epic. DX2 felt a lot 'smaller' in scale.

I think the problem with the physics was that the developers didn't bother to specify the mass of different objects. They used Havok physics which is a good bit of middleware (used in HL2 among other games) so they can't blame it on that.

You can actually throw cardboard boxes as far as you can throw huge metal barrels. Not good at all.

Ive just gone and bought deus ex: game of the year edition and deus ex invisible war.
Ive played the original and completed it once before but that was yonks ago so it will be like a new experience for me again.
Never played IW but after watching the gamespot review it seemed more of a fps and u could kill anyone without any repurcusions, but it still got a really good story though.

I personally didn't really enjoy this tbh.

Story line is pretty poor, graphics is terrible (even at that time) and the AI is non-existent. There are numerous endings but at least 3 of those depend on decisions made in the last chapter.. so you can end the game one way, go back half an hour to a previous save and make a different decision. Then you have another ending and so on.... In other words, what you do during the course of the entire game doesn't really have an impact of the final outcome.

There are plenty of other decent games that are worthy of your time. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is a much better game imo.

there's a lot of irony in mentioning the end chapter of IW and stalker in the same post, what with stalkers 7 different endings which can pretty much all be decided in the last chapter :p

i thought IW was a good game. it ran like an absolute dog when it was released, but its fine now obviously. people instantly put it down because if the immensity of the original deus ex. it doesnt live up to it, but its still a good game that should be played. it isnt quite as bad as many people make out.

It wasn't the last time I tried it. Like many people here i thught the original was a classic and i was determined to go back and try and play the sequel after I discarded it in disgust. Running on the machine in my sig (1800xt instead of a GTS though) I was getting sub 15 fps at the start of the game. I gave it 10 minutes then put it back on the shelf.

Deus ex was made for the PC market :IW for the Console basically. Its still a decent game with all the user contect avail which has been mentioned here. I've never got round to actually completing the orginal, its on a short list of games to finish before i die :P

There's others on this forum who feel the same... I may be wrong but I think iBot is one of them.
I was slightly underwhelmed at first due to not liking the first level much, but I stuck with it.

Just waiting for more info on Deus Ex 3, will see if it gets it back on track. Not that IW was that bad (I enjoyed it).
