got done on ebay/paypal - anything i can do?

I use my Credit Card via PayPal in case any of this happens.

The CC Company will just laugh all over them and get my money back. I would advise anyone with a CC to do the same.

As others have said always use your credit card when using Paypal. In accordance with the Credit Act (I think), CC users are protected from fraud so the CC can just chargeback any fraudulant funds.

Starting small claims proceedings against the guy costs next to nothing and can be done online. Garther your paperwork, copy everything, write good claim and bang - £30 scam stays on his record for life.

Yeah, don't be so stupid next time by actually thinking that if anything goes wrong, Paypal will be of any help.

They are literally no better than the scummy thieves they assist. As long as they get their money, they quite simply don't care about anything to do with the transaction.

I have had friends who have followed the rules to the end, by Paypal's very own letter. One got done out of a 60GB PS3 and games (around £500). Not only did he lose the PS3, but when the buyer was found to be using a stolen credit card, Paypal turned on him and took another £500 out of his bank.

I wouldn't bat an eyelid if someone walked in and anthrax'ed the Paypal offices. They really are the lowest of the low.

I was always under the impression PayPal insured you to £500 so that if funds couldnt be gained, Paypal covered it?

I got scammed for £60 on a CPU a while back and he didnt send the item,a week later he was kicked from eBay. PayPal managed to return the money to my account.

In 90% of "Paypal Suck" cases it's down to people not following the procedures.
The amount of times I've seen the usual "Paypal have ripped me off thread" and it isn't until about post 20 we learn that it was an EBay seller who once again decided to try and save a little money and not use a trackable package delivery system.
Paypal deal with hundreds of thousands of transactions a day and for there to be relatively few problems with these is pretty amazing.
As always people love being vocal when there is a problem - people aren't so when they are not having any problems and things are working for them.

If payment has been made to you from a compromised account then of course it isn't fiar that account should have to pay a refund.
There is only so much that Paypal can actually do to get money back.
If there is no paper trail to a person then it isn't as if they can send the bailifs anywhere.

I shall have to say that in the years and years I've been using Paypal (both buying and selling) I have only been "stung" once and that was when not sending to a registered address.
I learnt my lesson and never did that again.

Set up a 'new' account watch and wait for him to buy/sell items...either out bid him outrageously or bid excessively on his items and never pay!

Not nice, extremely dodgy and only a joke!

he had a web site and still does, had 40+ 100% feedback and just sold ink, i paid him the cash and i'm fully cofirmed and so on with paypal. He was kicked off ebay which comfirms he did something wrong, so why they don't take the money out and make him overdrawn like they did with me a few years back i will never no!

we should have a forum flooding of his website till he pays you back, he has a contact us form to start with and im sure we could find more fun things to do :)

Paypal are just a money making sham, I've stopped using them ages ago and would advise everybody to do the same. So they take commission from transactions and have a concept of trusted sellers/buyers but when things go wrong they seem to do damned little to resolve the issue.

Agreed. Paypal is nothing more than just a rip off service. Bullshiting about all their protection policy and charging you a hefty fees. When something does goes wrong, they'll only protect themself not to lose money and NOT YOU! I nearly lost £300 last time when someone paid me with a verified account and also eligible for seller protection. Paypal still reversed the money 30 days after payment and ignored any of my emails.

I got skanked for around £100 on Ebay once.. Ebay closed the guys account but couldn't refund me the money. I had his address but he lived in London.. Too far to travel for the sake of £100. :(

This is sad, egay is a good plave to get rid of carp , but paypal seems to be well dodgy , how long before it gets pulled up in the main stream news I wonder.....
