6 month ban and £275 fine for woman who killed a motorcyclist

Someone lost there life through the actions of someone else, be it an accident or on purpose a £275 fine and a 6 month driving ban is disgusting. People say that it would be pointless sending her to jail yet there are other people locked up for far far less.
I know a lad who was at a party one night, got chatting to a lass only to find out that her boyfriend was sitting on the other side of the room, needles to say he wasnt too pleased and to add to matters the lad was a meat head with a few screws loose, him and 2 of his mates chased him from the house and im in no doubt intended to do some serious damage to him. unfortunatly for the lad being chased he still had the bottle of lager he was drinking in his hand, they caught up with him a few streets away and kicked him to the floor, the bottle smashed in the attack and the lad being kicked all over no doubt thought he was going to be left in quite a mess, he managed to pick glass up from the floor and swung it but caught one of the them in the neck. The lad died form the injurys, allthough it was self defence the perosn got 3 years in jail, the guilt from killing someone and the stigma that goes along with it, did he deserve to go to jail? i think he did he killed a person, you have to draw a line and the loss of human life at the hands of someone else shouldnt be taken so lightly. does this woman diserve jail, most definatly, she killed a man for the sake of a tissue, i dont doubt she feels sorry and guilty but if you dont lock people up for things like this what sort of message do you send out, feeling sorry and bad for what you have done doesnt cut it when theres human life involved.

Seems a shame this result, almost like the judge is sending a message that accidents happen and for the most part you should not have to be responsible for them. However, this was a completely avoidable, idiotic accident and someone died. Insulting for the wife, I hope it is that the current laws prevented the judge being harsher. Were is the retest, or longer ban? Larger fine?

so, im a bit broke, i walk into a bank with a shotgun, shoot the cashier in the face and then make off with some loot.

i get caught, they take the money away. theyve not lost anything, i handed it all over when i was caught, and in your opinion, there is no point putting me in prison, cos ive got to live with the fact ive killed someone

she was stupid enough to kill someone, she should face the normal consequences that are in place to deter people from driving badly.

i would hate to be the victim's family. look at at the value put on the biker's life.

i promise, i could go out tonight, take the car on a blast and get caught speeding and end up inside.

Not too sure how you can even compare the above to the accident given what a shotguns main purpose is.

From the way you've described it, the bloke who accidentally killed in self defence should not have been jailed at all. I do think this woman should have been jailed though, based on precedents set in other, similar cases. And I am fairly sure that if she had been a man, the sentence would have been custodial and not the derisory slap on the wrist she actually got.

ridiculous, she should have been able to do that..

And as for the OP she should have at least got time or a ban for 5 years

Disgusting!

How did the police officer know she was only doing that. As far as he knew she was talking crap and trying to get out of it.

5 pages of layman opinions and personal believes of what she should've got with hardly any insight into the case, lots of if and strange comparison to weird examples. How did you know she didn't plea guilty at the earliest opportunity? Which would lower her sentence, the fact that it was in the mags mean their sentencing powers are limited. She got within the bracket of sentence for her charge and thats that. And it was the correct charge. All these manslaughter crap is just that, crap. Do i think the sentence is light, yes. Am i upset over it? No.

A “£15 victim surcharge“, is that the kick whilst you are down?

Utter disgrace, that is not justice, surely this was ‘causing death by dangerous driving’ and I though that carried several years imprisonment?

Scort.

like i said i would update on what my mate got for driving through a car park whilst 8mg (or less) over the limit

she got 12month ban + £175 fine
