**OcUK Crysis 1680x1050 VERY HIGH Settings Top List**

yeah he must be because i didn't know there was a watercolling version of ati new cards out yet.

As most ATI cards have standard mounting holes & will take a Maze 4-5 block or any other standard hole mounting block that could be used as way back as the ati 1800xt to this very day so no extra money added to this card.

ahhh kids kids.. he's using what we USED to use back in the old days :)

ATI have continued (I believe, as the 3870 was the same unless I'm mistaken?) using the same mounting pattern as I've used on 9800pros/x800/7800gtx/x850/x1900xtx/7900gtx.

The only card that really changed any of that was the 8800GTX/Ultra with its huge die size.

So I guess if you were on about a full cover (largely pointless) block then yes, they're not out but as for core waterblocks, I have a couple of old ones in my shed!

And I wouldn't be suprised if that was his 24-7, he's loving the voltmods is gurusan :)

i am using an old school maze4 gpu block that i picked up for like 12inc or something on here in the mm the other day. Very impressed with it, a quality block.

my 24/7 clock is 900/1175 1.45vGPU. 2d idle clocks are 160mhz with only 1.15V so it's only seeing higher voltage under load.

3dmark06 I got around 15,515 with my e6750......and 8092 in vantage, The nvidia cards really seem to do well in vantage

Not at all Marc. Guru's card may match the 280 in games like Crysis but on the majority the 280 will still be faster. No doubt.

i'm not disputing the gtx280 is much faster - but i don't think the difference is as much as the difference in vantage scores would indicate.

if the gtx 280 is faster in some games then it cant be by much at all.....certainly not enough to make it worth around 4x the price in my opinion. I cannot and will not ever pay over 150 for a gpu.

The only game I really play at the moment is CoD4 and the 4850 eats it for breakfast....totaled up about 10 hours on the 4850 and my min fps ever recorded during that time is 34fps

No ones disputing that :p

Perhaps you could make another thread with some game benchmarks done and then get someone with a similar 280 system to compare. That way we can see just how close it is in others.

which benchmarks should I run. please not the dmc benchmark as it takes ages.

also i just notice why nvidia cards get such high vantage scores. its because they use the gpu in the cpu benchmark! that's cheating!! 29k cpu score while i have 6000something

Not cheating. The benchmark caters for hardware Physx. NVIDIA just eventually enabled it and it took advantage of it. No cheating about it really.

You could run

Lost Coast
UT3 benchmark (sure theres one somewhere)
WIC
Lost Planet

Plenty more..

Try to understand that if i have water cooling & a maze4 GPU block for the last 2 years & i used the same block on my 1800xt, 1900xtx, 3870, 4870 then the cost of the block & setup dont come into it as the water block where bought when i got the 1800xt.
You don't have to pay again for thw water cooling & GPU block every time you change your gfx card.
