All New Summer 2008 Transfer Merry Go Round/Rumour Mill

Some real silly transfer prices being bandied about this close season, players like Keane,Crouch are nowhere near what the papers claim, even Barry ffs.

Esp when you consider what 'pool paid for Torres last season.

Very true. By that scale any of them a re worth 15m max!

I'd say Crouch + £5m is about right for Keane, no matter what you value Crouch at.

and yet with a handful less matches, several bad injuries Rooney still scored basically the same amount of goals - but according to you he is much worse
Much worse? Are you putting words in my mouth? After accusing many people of doing it to you, quite rich that you'd then do it to me.

Are you forgettting the two or three sitters Tevez didnt put away in Moscow?
No, he should have put the ball slid across the box home, no doubt.

You give reasonable defence to Tevez (by the middle let alone the end of the season, any pre-season shouldnt be relevant anyway) but you dont allow for the numerous injuries Rooney had which stopped and started his season.
Yes I did. I've mentioned it time and time again about his injury against Reading and how it hampered his season. I also stated after the Champions League that this will be the first summer where Rooney isn't injured or playing football and how it would help him.

There is no reason why Rooney and Tevez cant be as EQUALLY effective as they where last season
Never said they wouldn't be.

There used to be, we're not alowed club threads anymore. Even when there was a thread though the United lot found a way to shove their opinions down our throats :p
Other way around. The United thread was bombarded by the opposition. It was the same for all threads, it wasn't just us lot.
*innocent face*

There's two key aspects as to why people have been getting on Wazza's back one of which he's in control of the other he's not

Firstly the latter - we're never going to get the best out of him by switching his position from week to week, even with his disjointed start to last season due to injuries when he found his match fitness and was played up front with Tevez he hit the richest vein of goalscoring form he's ever had in his career. Play him consistently up top and none of this wide nonsense and his all round game with reap the benefits

Now the former point I eluded to - the lad needs to work on his finishing because there's no doubt there's been a decline in it certainly last season if not the season before as well. Too many occasions last season Wazza went clean through and either shot wide or hit the keeper, now I know he's never been the most clinical of finishers but once upon a time when Rooney went clean through there wasn't a doubt that the ball would end up in the net nowadays I half expect him to miss :( Prime example was his goal against Chelsea at the bridge last season - I was genuinely surprised he scored! Having said that though it did go in off the post.... :p

No offense lads but all the talk about how 'great' the United players are, is incredibly boring.

This is a transfer thread not a 'omg rooney passes 32yard passes better than tevez'.

Make a United thread or something?

We did have a United thread, an generally did have a United Preseason thread as well but they got closed for some reason and we're not allowed to do them any more

Just by the language you used previously it seemed to indicate Rooney was a lot worse than Tevez - and yet look at it as dispassionately as possible and Rooney had just as good a season (even though he was played more frequently in different roles than Tevez it seems anyway):)

Didnt mean to put words in your mouth - thought I mentioned it in original post appologies if I didnt:)

Really just posting to appologise for the above - wont mention Rooney (or Ronaldo) again :D

Falcao was awesome on footie manager a couple of years ago, so that's good enough for me. :p

Reportedly interested in playing in the EPL also - but somehow I think its just "hey this is a striker who had a good season, Man Utd need a striker so lets link them as a rumour "

Most probably. I'm just looking for us to actually make a move for someone, it couldn't be any more obvious that we need a new striker. I'm still surprised we got away with it last season tbh.

Well Martin Ferguson has made a career out of football manager and being a good scout.

I wonder if that African lad will be in Fergies 1st team plans for this year or if he will be shipped out on loan

If he really wants to play football properly again I'd live to have him too, most teams would I guess and it seems he has respect for Scolari so it might work but a lot probably depends on who we are getting rid of.

Cech
Bosingwa
Carvalho
Terry
A.Cole
Essien
Ballack
J. Cole
Ronaldinho
Robinho
Drogba

Deco, Bridge, Kalou, Alex, Mikel, Malouda plus Ivanovic, Di Santo & Sinclair

How awesome would that be if the likes of Drogba and Ronaldinho were up for it:)

Thats some huge ego's you got there JG. Whats the inside Chelsea word on Robhinio. Is this for definate ? Surely this will have a big impact on Ronaldo going to Madrid in return

The only sfuff I know is what's readily available, his agent says they're in talks and he's very upset about the way RM have been using him in the CR saga, I don't think he wants to leave but if RM keep mucking him about he might tell them to shove it, hopefully that'll leave RM without both of them;)

That would be truly awesome :) Fingers crossed!

Nah, bring Deco on for Joe Cole, and if Ballack rediscovers his early Chelsea form, you can have 5 passengers in your first XI. :p

Would win the EPL with correct and good management.

Not necessarily. I for example don't rate Kalou, Alex, Mikel or Malouda, so the bench doesn't have too much to it IMO, then there is Deco who loves to give the ball away.

You'd have Robinho who strikes me as a lightweight that couldn't handle a first season, but over time will. Ronaldinho who is an enigma, how does someone go from Worlds Best to just being good in half a season? A.Cole who I don't think is as good as Bridge and Bosingwa who proved at Euro2008 that he can't defend.

Over time they would be good I'm sure.
