If you're referring to the Sapper, you have to attach it to buildings made by Engineers (Sentry Guns, Dispensers and Teleports). Once attached, the device will be disabled and gradually (I say gradually; in fact it's quite quick) its health will be reduced until it's destroyed.

If you want to backstab an Engineer, first sap his sentry gun while disguised as an enemy player. This will then disable it. You will then need to quickly kill him before he hits his sentry with his wrench which, after 3 hits I believe, will remove the sapper.
 
Every class has a completely different playstyle.

I'm playing soldier an awful lot again at the moment, mainly due to the sheer amount of Pyros running about (and usually with the backburner - so no bouncing rockets!). Finding it easier than usual for some reason.
 
How do the unlocks become available then? I havent played TF2 in months so Im a bit behind whats happened!

Managed to unlock 2 pyro and 3 medic achievements yesterday but no upgrades?

Pyros gain the Flare Gun after 10 achievements, unlock the Backburner at the 16 achievement mark, and earn the Axtinguisher with 22. I can't remember how many achievements you need for the Medic unlocks, though.

they've made it the same for medic now :)
 
I might actually start using the heavy when this update comes out :p

*Little of topic here but, with medic how on earth do you uber 2 people at once ?

switch between uber targets. The uberness stays on a player for a sec after you take it off, so you are able to switch between 2/3 players keeping them all uber if you are pro. Although am I right in thinking that the more you switch you uber the faster it drains? I'm sure that was added in an update a while ago.

Box type device is the sapper that Mansize explained.

If you have the cloak on and you get shot then you flicker and you are visible to the enemy for a second. The same also happens if you bump into an enemy. Sometimes people can just tell your a Spy if you are running away from a battle or acting suspicious.
