Hi guys

Is Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots for the PS3 worth buying ?

Or should i look at spending my money on a different PS3 game ???

Well look, there are several MGS4 threads here, it has the highest gamerankings score of any PS3 game to date, it's the flagship title for the PS3, the most anticipated game this year, I could go on and on and on. It's like you came into this forum with a blindfold on and posted without thinking.

Anyone who says MGS4 isn't worth simply hasn't played on it.

Aye, if you've not played the earlier games, I think you might be overwhelmed by the story (which, let's face it, is a HUGE part of the game).

On it's own, it's not a bad game at all, not the pinnacle of gaming achievement some have made it out to be, but a very decent game nonetheless.

If you didn't like the previous games, you'll hate this.

I never played any the earlier MGS games...

you really need to play the other games for the full effect. its a very story heavy game and lots of lengthy cutscenes though the gameplay itself is very finely tuned and is an excellent game.

it is an absolutely immense package and thats not even including metal gear online

Watch the retrospectives on gametrailers and read up a bit on the first 3 games and you should be fine, I didn't really play the old games and I still think this is one of the best games ever made.

Sorry but all the people who are saying you need to have played the other games are wrong! If you have not played the others just watch Metal Gear Retrospective on GT or even just a little read of the MGS4 Database (PSN free download). You do not need to have an in depth knolegdge of the story in order to apprichiate how good MGS4 is.

Yes, there will be some things you don't understand without knowing what went on before, but you will still be able to piece together the important parts and the MGS4 story is good in its own right. The game IS a lot better if you do know the story as there is a lot in the game that fans can relate to, but it's still an awesome game if you don't.

In short.... BUY IT NOW!

To be honest, if you're not already an MGS fan, I'm not sure how much you'd like MGS4. If you're not already into the MGS story you might get a bit frustrated at the lack of 'game' in MGS4.

Personally I'm not enjoying it that much, and it's certainly not the best PS3 game I have played.

I do realise I'm very much in the minority though.
