Is MGS4:Guns Of The Patriots for PS3 worth buying ??

Not true at all, MGS is a very well known gaming series, same as Halo. Sales aren't just down to marketing. What Nokkon says is true, I know people that don't like Halo, doesn't make them 'not proper gamers'

This finally justified my PS3 Purchase. Without a doubt the most complete game I have played for a long time. Dualshock 3 is a must!!
I can't wait to go through it several time more!

Sales don't mean a damn thing, it all means is a company put a ton of money into marketing.

Ah yes, because sales have nothing to do with the popularity of a series or home users buying them.

Stranglehold cost a fortune and had masses of advertising, didn't sell well at all. Advertising only gets you so far, to think otherwise is incredibly naive.

Grand Theft Auto
Halo
Gran Turismo
Mario
Madden

Those all outsell MGS. A bit of research.

As for who says 'bickering'? Adults.

? to be fair that just looks like you just made the list up. Links?

(not doubting the accuracy but it would be nice to see someone back up claims on this forum :) )

Stranglehold was a new IP, harder to sell. I thought it was a decent game.

Metal Gear Solid 3 sold half of it's two predecessors, MGS4 is far behind what Halo 3 was at, at its launch for example.
All of these are from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_video_games and yes, ALL are referenced.

As has been mentioned above, this game really justified my ps3 buy to me and showed off what it can do. I tend to tire of most sp games these days but this hasn't bored me yet.

I thought you were talking about the latest entries in those series. Also I wasn't doubting you, just meant I had no knowledge of the sales myself :)

Just wondering what kind of time frame that list represents, and it's accuracy. Because official reports were that MGS4 sold 1.5million on it's first day, Not in total.

Also, GT for example, Shows a lot of shipped results, rather than sold results. Just thought I'd point that out :p

Kinda confused with all the comparing of the sales figures? Doesnt mean the games are good.

+ those sales figures are old, as stated MGS4 sold that in 1 day and its currently around the 3mill mark according to VG charts. MGS3 was a silent, literatly no hype or marketing. But even still, sales figures dont represent the quality of a game. Take Halo 3 for example.

what are you confused about?
someone suggested nothing interesting has outsold mgs
he was corrected
sales figures i agree mean little about how good a game or console is

It's never gonna be 100%, nothing in the written media ever is, but it's a good guideline.
