If Liverpool had conducted their business in the right and proper way instead of unsettling someones else's player in the press during the season, no less, they would have had their man for £15-£16m by now.
But no, they did it their way and have engineered a situation which is now impossible for all three parties. Well done.
Are you being serious?
The only person that was doing busines via the press was O'Neil. Despite O'Neil's bs about the story being leaked by Liverpool to a local paper, it was actually proven to have come out first in a Birmingham paper. And when both managers were asked about it, Benitez refused to comment where as O'Neil was the one telling the press everything. And im pretty sure it wasn't Benitez on the BBC giving the press regular updates.
Im pretty certain that we tapped Barry up (i think it happens one way or another with 99% of deals these days) but to say we dealt with the situation in the press badly it utter rubbish. O'Neil is bitter because he's realised that he can't keep hold of his best players if the top4 come calling.
