All New Summer 2008 Transfer Merry Go Round/Rumour Mill

If Liverpool had conducted their business in the right and proper way instead of unsettling someones else's player in the press during the season, no less, they would have had their man for £15-£16m by now.

But no, they did it their way and have engineered a situation which is now impossible for all three parties. Well done.

Are you being serious?

The only person that was doing busines via the press was O'Neil. Despite O'Neil's bs about the story being leaked by Liverpool to a local paper, it was actually proven to have come out first in a Birmingham paper. And when both managers were asked about it, Benitez refused to comment where as O'Neil was the one telling the press everything. And im pretty sure it wasn't Benitez on the BBC giving the press regular updates.

Im pretty certain that we tapped Barry up (i think it happens one way or another with 99% of deals these days) but to say we dealt with the situation in the press badly it utter rubbish. O'Neil is bitter because he's realised that he can't keep hold of his best players if the top4 come calling.

Well once again, no new signings, no idle speculation, not even any rumours that you know are BS to lift a smile. What should have been one of the best off seasons as a Utd fan has fast turned sour the day after the Champions league final and I don't see it getting any better.

Fed up Quieroz is going, Fed up Ronaldo shows naff all respect for the club, fans or Fergie. Also fed up with that clown Calderon having a mouth piece with him from Marca when he goes for a dump has a shower or scratches his ass.

"Mr Calderon, it has been five minutes since we last interviewed you, do you have anything to say on the Ronaldo issue ??"

"Yes, this is a travesty and slavery and Untied should be pride that we want to take their best player off them so we can sell more shirts to pay off debts from players we bought 20 years ago. However I don't want that as being construed as unsettling the player. Just in case they run to my to buddies, Michelle and Sepp who will do absolutely bugger all except to endorse our wretched pursuit of Ronaldo. We respect Manchester United"

I think we will get Barry for LM not CM mostly. This then leaves RM as the priority and i would prefer Quaresma to Bentley (due mostly to ego) and an outside shot at Silva who did impress me at Euro 2008. RM i can see being this seasons budget.

CF then will have to be out of the cash from Crouch and Itandje and hopefully Carson. This should give us 20mn for a decent forward like Keane who i really rate or Villa (would have to be ala Torres and due to respecting Benitez and friends like Reina and Torres).

So far;
OUT
4mn Riise
2mn Itandje
14-16mn Alonso
11mn Crouch
??? Carson
-----------------
36mn + Carson

IN
Free Deggen
8mn Dossena
15mn Barry ???
15mn RM ??
20mn Striker
----------------
58mn

To me those seem possible as semi of CL was achieved and the major off loading of Kewell, Finnan, Le Tallec, Riise wages etc. The wage bill will definitely be lower overall.

Great news that the Nasri deal has finally gone through, although it was possibly the worst kept secret in football :p

He's got the number 8 shirt as well :)

We've officially signed Diego Cavalieri (Brazilian keeper) today for around £3m.

Also being reported in the Echo today that we've accepted a bid from Newcastle for Guthrie (no figure mentioned but £2-3m at a guess) and that we've recieved 2 bids for Carson.

I thinlk Quaresma has already signed for Inter.Silva is just too lightweight for our league, which is a sad indictment for our league.Mind you lil Louis Garcia did ok for us.

Well we know Barry is pretty much coming to Anfield. I think we're looking at either Keane or Villa upfront, and I've got a feeling our winger will be Albert Reira.

It may be considered in time as scary as two summers ago when the only signing for the 1st team was one M.Carrick :)

(ie think positiive :D)

I'm more alarmed at the fact that we'll get front row seats to the Mike Phelan naked knees show, as he'll be sitting alongside Fergie instead of behind him. :p

Not heard anything about that, but Inter have reached an agreement to sign Mancini from Roma (also a winger). Not sure if they would be wanting to sign 2 out and out wingers in 1 window?

Unless Jose is gonna play a 4-3-3 with Ibrahimovic up top and Mancini and Quaresma off him, who knows :p

Everton! are they short on cash because of the new stadium? still yet to sign any new players and rumours that Johnson is being chased by wigan.

As a Blackburn fan, what a complete joke that is. Robbie Fowler? Apparently it's a 2 week trial, but still, waste of time. Ince should be concentrating on genuine transfer targets. Not some washed up has been.

Not impressed.

I nearly crashed my car when i heard this on the radio this morning.

Everybody knows what fowler is about, what is the point in looking at him? You can't polish a turd.

You also have no buyer for Alonso anymore as Juve have walked away from any potential deal because Liverpool tried upping the price at the last minute. In addition to this, you only actually get £7m up front for Crouch with the rest being dependent on Portsmouth achieving certain things.

So, its actually £13m plus whatever you get for Carson, although you could add the suspected £3m for Guthrie to that amount, so giving £16m

Then outgoings you have already spent £3m on this keeper and a further £8m on Dossena therefore your already at £11m which is almost what you have recouped on player transfers.

With the Barry deal still at large, rumoured to be only going ahead if you sell Alonso which is becoming more and more unlikely at the moment it doesnt look that good.

The suggestion of you wanting Keane is obviously true, but Spurs have slapped at £20m all cash up front tag on their man knowing that Liverpool havent got access to that cash.

Who says Juve have walked away? One minute they're saying the really like him and want to sign him and the next they're saying they don't discuss transfer targets

I like the work on the figures though; you only count the money we're getting up front for Crouch (which is actually just under £9m) but count the full fee for Dossena (only £6m up front)

How much we get up front has little relevance as like i mentioned above we're not likely to be paying the full fee for the majority of our targets up front either.

As for the Barry transfer; the club has already said that Alonso's sale isn't key to the Barry deal, the money is seperate.

And finally Keane; the other day every Spurs fans was saying the talk of him going to Liverpool was utter bs and now they seem to know the full details of what Spurs are demanding for him :D Even if Spurs are demanding £20m cash up front, that doesn't mean that's what they'll accept.

Do any Liverpool fans think Guthrie is decent? Or has potential? I can't say I ever noticed him at Bolton. He's obviously not good enough for Liverpool but that doesn't worry me, Crouch is in that boat and he's a decent player.

Also, what position does he play, midfielder I know, but does he play out wide or in the middle?

He's decent enough but in all honesty i would have thought you'd be after a better standard of player than him. He done well for Bolton, arguably one of their top 2-3 players towards the end of the season, but i think that's about his level.

He can play either on the right or as an attacking cm.

Seems as if he's gone for £2m + add ons which is about right tbh.
