David Icke is a candidate for the Haltemprice by-election.

'We are raising taxes but you will be better off' drivel ;)
Prudence. I'm looking forward in hope that Labour get a severe kicking in Glasgow East. Come in No. 10, your time is up.

Anyway, LOL at those parties. Shame no-one had some money to throw away on making up a party with Lizard in the name. :)

So, then. He came 12th. Even beaten by Mad Cow-Girl. How embarrassing is that? :D

Not bad I thought. He was never seriously going to win anyway. And I think it's hard for anyone to claim victory as only 34% of the electorate voted anyway.

Turnout 23,911 (34.03%)

EDIT : Also highlights how sad our glorious democracy is when someone can get into power by having just 12% of the total vote. With abysmal figures like that no wonder they want to make voting compulsary.

Not really, if you get the majority of the people who bother to vote then you are the victor and Mr Davis did get ~10x more votes than the next closest candidate. Or to put it another way for Mr Icke, he is around 1/5 as popular as the Nation Front or slightly less than 1/4 as popular as the Miss Great Britain Party. If that is your definition of not bad then you are definitely a glass half full type of person, in fact, you might wish to consider taking over from "Comical Ali".

It is rather sad that so few people vote but given it appears to have been a largely foregone conclusion as to who would win with the other two major parties not fielding candidates you can understand some reluctance.

Sorry, but this...

Are the typical schpiel trotted out by those who were on the receiving end of a sound beating at the polls. I've heard them both so many times I've lost count, and from people who stood a lot better chance than Mr. Icke.

If you'd believe them, you'd think proportional representation and compulsory voting were the panacea to rid all known ills. No, they really aren't. They're just another option among several, with their own flaws.

The moral of this story - you can't have it both ways.

Apart from the fact that argument is totally fallacious, (I mean what - should everyone who didn't vote automatically get counted in the 'your candidate of choice' column?!), your maths is also wrong:

Davis got 17113 votes out of 23911. That's 71.6% of the vote.

34% turnout implies hence that 24.3% of the potential electorate voted for him. That's higher than most MPs elected during a general election, despite the abysmal turnout. I'm curious as to which orifice you pulled 12% from

Anyway, it's a moot point as there was no serious competition (hence the low turnout). But it's amusing that David Icke was beaten by 4 independents, the monster raving loony party, and the miss Great Britain party :)

But anyway - I'm genuinely interested in your "I saw a reptilian" comment. Care to elaborate?

I've had two experiences directly involving reptilians. Once I was laid on my bed then I felt paralysed and couldn't move. I could see one at the end of my bed though he was 'cloacked' and I could only see the outline of him. Very, very freightening and negative experience, don't wish to go into it anymore.

Another time I encountered one after a prolonged period of meditation. This time the experience was fairly postive i.e. it wan't malicious nor did it have any ill-intent.

I've also twice seen people shape-shift though not to full reptilians. Shape shifting doesn't happen like you probably think it does. It's like for a brief period there face distorts and new facial lines and charateristics appear. It's not a physical tranformation as such but more an overlay appears over the person. Hard to explain unless you see it. Both times this was negative and quite frieghtening.

Every time a conspiracy theorist / new ager provides evidence for their views which is BLATANTLY and OBVIOUSLY sleep paralysis they damage all their credibility.
