All New Summer 2008 Transfer Merry Go Round/Rumour Mill

Who says Juve have walked away? One minute they're saying the really like him and want to sign him and the next they're saying they don't discuss transfer targets

I like the work on the figures though; you only count the money we're getting up front for Crouch (which is actually just under £9m) but count the full fee for Dossena (only £6m up front)

As I am not a Liverpool fan I was unaware of the amount the Dossena fee was upfront, therefore assumed it was a one of payment.

And finally Keane; the other day every Spurs fans was saying the talk of him going to Liverpool was utter bs and now they seem to know the full details of what Spurs are demanding for him :D Even if Spurs are demanding £20m cash up front, that doesn't mean that's what they'll accept.

The talk of Keane going to Liverpool was utter rubbish up until the point it was actually put on record that Benitez wanted him. The papers speculated that Liverpool wanted him, then made up a story that Keane had handed in a transfer request.

It was until Benitez came out in an interview yesterday that there was actually any suggestion the rumour was true.

As for accepting a bid, unless Keane came out and issued a transfer request, which is not something he will do, he has already stated before that he will only leave WHL in one of two ways. 1) His contract expires, of which he has 4 years left to run or 2) We decide to sell him, which we are not likely to do as we dont have to (contrary to the reports in the paper we dont need the money).

Which makes me quietly confident of my claim yesterday. :)

Im not saying we'll sign Keane or not. I do however find it funny how just the other day there was no truth in the stories yet now you seem to know the full details of Spurs' demands.

Regarding whether he will leave; if as you say, Spurs are demanding £20m then surely that means they are open to him leaving? If Spurs are open to him leaving then it'll depend on the money Spurs are prepared to take for him and whether we can afford it. As Benitez said the other day, Keane is one of a number of names although by admitting to contact over a deal it would seem as if Keane features highly on his list.

I don't know enough about Keane to say whether he'd demand the transfer like Barry, however i do know that unlike other who say so, he is a boyhood Liverpool fan, is big friends with several Liverpool players and his agents clients are mainly Liverpool players.

If Twinblade is correct (Im not suggesting he isnt) then the remains of the contract is too long for Keane to be able to buy it out (less than 2 years is the maximum isnt it for this option to be available)

Yes but in 2 years it will still be Liverpools year so it makes no difference ;)
