Annoying things about your car?

Best option to make it play MP3's is to get an Intravee and an iPod. Can carry it with you if/when you put navigation in and it'll work better with the widescreen nav display.

However, the age of your car means you may need a new headunit because of something called the double key press issue.

There are three annoying things about my car, one is quite major and the others are niggling problems.
1 - The ride quality is absolutely shocking for day to day driving.
2 - When the windscreen wipers are on, the stalk blocks my view of the headlight switch. I have this OCD thing where I keep having to glance at the switch at night to make sure my lights are on, even though I can see the dash is lit up and the headlights are illuminating the road ahead. It's retarded.
3 - Parking is a nightmare, even with rear PDC, as the visibility is terrible, especially out the back.

how much do mp3 cd changers cost though? IF they're like £50 for a used one from an 06 onwards one it's a lot cheaper intermediate than a £300 intravee :p

Also, will the intravee work ok with only a single line display?

Tom.

£90 or so from ebay if you find a badly advertised one but you get no track information or anything so in my opinion it's a pretty rubbish solution.

The Intravee is not £300 - not sure where that came from :p

£144.95 from Toysinyourcar + an Alpine KCA-420i from ebay (£10-15 probably) + an iPod if you don't have one.

It works okay with a single line display, yes.

I expect you'll need a new BMW headunit though as because of the age of your car it'll have a bug that means the interface doesn't work properly.

Doors sometimes rattle with certain music on the stereo

Makes a strange noise when going over speed bumps

Gear stick starts wobbling when accelerating hard (:D)

Central locking is carp, passenger door never locks yet makes a noise like a squealing pig when trying to lock.

I'm sure I'll think of some more later...

99 Volvo S80

Handbrake feels very cheap.

Poor fuel economy (Av 22mpg, can hit 35mpg on a run if keep it under 70)

Windscreen wiper controls work oposite way to other cars

It's very loud

The ride quality is pretty bad

It rattles

No point trying to have fun in the wet

Things get very expensive very quickly, there are always things I want to buy :(

But I love it :D

One of the speakers crackle.

The bumper has a crack in, both are faded and need re-sprayed.

Sits too high.

Brakes squeak slightly sometimes.

Its too slow.

The tyres.

94 Corolla 1.6:

Some stabilizator is loose, not essential according to a mechanic but makes a small noise on potholes and speed bumps and stuff...
Has no rear speakers.
Loads of scratches and scrapes.
440.000 km on the clock
LPG evaporator fills up with with water once every 2 year, have to empty it else on lpg the car loses too much power...
Small oil leak near oil cooler, have to put in a liter of oil every 2000km... Can't be arsed to fix it.
Rear drum brakes worn, front wheel block very easily.
Rear suspension is a bit worn, when heavily loaded going over some speed bumps even at walking speed, the exhaust scrapes the ground a bit.

02 Citroen C5 break:

Remote control for windows & locking has a bit poor batteries in, need to stand at about 3 metres for it to open/close....
The armrest doesn't go high enough for me (I'm small) :(, would like it higher.
Parking is hard, you can't see the nose of the car at all even if you stand up or put you head half a meter out of the window.
The front left speaker rattles at high volumes, needs to be replaced.
Engine is hearable inside ( in the corolla it's unhearable at idle, and also during motorway journey you only hear wind and tires, not the engine).
180k km now

I haven't used the iDrive but from what I've seen it's an utter PITA...is this the case? or does it just take "getting used to" ?

It's a PITA.

Just a bit hard to use and it's not laid out very well. Should all be touch screen imo.

I used to think iDrive was rubbish until I actually... used it properly. It really isn't hard to use.

They're about to revise it anyway.

It's fine for me, but my parents don't know how to use it or use it very well. Just a bit confusing for people who aren't technologically in the know.

I dont like the way i open a car door after its been raining and water drops into the car seats. I have kind of got used to now having to wipe any sitting water away from above the doors before opening them. The only other thing I can knock it on is the Goodyear Eagle NCT5 tyres fitted as standard, they are low friction for better economy but make driving in the wet pretty interesting with all the torque.

Its brilliant the early version wasnt hard to use unless you had trouble programming a video, microwave etc. The version 3 with extended voice control is superb to use and has a very good layout, it only took me an hour or so to master most of it.

It's slow. Well not that slow but I want a faster car.

Rear passenger side electric window or drivers switch for said window is knackered. Can go down but not back up again. Have to disable the rear windows and re-enable and then put the window back up at the actual switch :(

there is not enough space between the engine and the radiator to fit the turbo, and the pipes don't reach now i've moved the radiator to the other side.
