Anyone else had a increase of Eastern-Europeans where you live?

when i used to live in leicester it was rife. And generally my experiences were the same as the OP.

It never was enough to make me leave (work did that) but it sure did make one feel uncomfortable walking through their part of the neighbourhood alone in the evening. Also, there general attitude and presentation was pretty poor.

They tend to be the majorty of customers where i work. on the weekend i would say 40 - 50% of our customers are Polish / Pork & Cheese. They tend to be very ignorant and demand a lot.

Look not all Eastern Europeans are like this it's true we have big family's and god knows how many celebrations that require the entire family to be there but to say we're all thieving, raping, thieving ****s is unfair. Every society has their own version of chavs and it's sad to see your basing your entire view of Eastern Europe on them!

no, no Capn, thats not the case - apologies if it came accross as such.

My PhD supervisor was Polish, great guy - and still a very good friend. Every society has "problem people" just unfortunate that when i lived in a city the increasing majority of people were ignorant, abusive and rude. They also happened to be eastern european. That said there were many, many english people who were the same, but they dont stand out as much as they are generally speaking english as opposed to another language (which i also find a little ignorant).

No probs but my comment wasn't really aimed at you more the OP and anyone who's been agreeing with it. It really grinds my gears when people make snap judgements based on what the minority do and havn't even seen what the majority are really like.

Yep, loads of Poles here in Belfast, and in general, they seem to work harder and are much more friendly than the locals.

Edit: Of course they might not be Polish. I dunno. they talk funny anyway, and have pale skin. close enough.

Hmmm. Location: Cambridge. Poles? Check.

No problems with them though, they don't cause any trouble - at least non I've seen. It's the "yowths" from Cambridge that are the worst offenders.

There are some Polish people in Plymouth now.

Every single one I've had cause to interact with has been polite, spoken to me in English, and been very pleasant.

There are about 5000 - 6000 in Crewe. There are a fair few where I live and as you have said they polite and don't cause any trouble. Most of my friends are Police Officers and they say that they are very well behaved and have only really had to deal with the odd drunk.

There are also a lot of Indian families here now too working at Bentley, a family moved in next door but one to us, they always spoke to us in English, there children played with our daughter, they invited us into there home for some authentic Indian food and we had them around to our house for some good old steak!

To be honest they all work, casue virtually no trouble not like some of the vast majority chlamydia siglemotherus and chaverusmalusfatherus.

We have a group of 5 Albanian men, all in their mid to late 20's in the next street. They're always arguing, shouting and hassling women who dare to walk down the street.

The best thing is though, they don't work and yet are capable of running a very nice black E60 545i and dressing in smart clothes expensive looking clothes.

Just like lots of indigenous Britons then!?

Yeah, notice the odd bit of Polish food in Centra/Tescos. I'm all for it; it's usually pretty good!

Have heard a tale or two of some cheeky crime that was supposedly done by Poles. (eg. Walking into a boatclub changing room, coming back later and cleaning the place out, including a car.) Not that local people have ever done the same or more.

The ones most people complain about here are the guys selling newspapers at traffic lights, but i don't think they're eastern European.

Edit: A lot of them seem to work in Subway for some reason.

Yes, we have a road in our town which is full of them. They have even set up a Polish food shop and a Polish bar. If you're not polish and you go in there you get weird looks.

like if you dont look smart and you go in a trendy bar.
Or an emo walks into a charva bar/club.
Or if you walk into a working mans club.

come to newcastle. theres honestly hardly any. you have to put up with geordies though :(

Newcastle has a problem with the irish and chinese tbh :)

I went to slough for the day for an interview and I'm ashamed to say this (and also don't want to come across as racist in any way) but it was, in the style of Where's Wally? "Spot a Brit".

I got glared at and knocked about/nudged a bit by some eastern european lads as I was walking through, nothing too shocking though :p

Where I was yesterday was full of them, everywhich way I turned. Grr, makes my blood boil, send them back I say.

Krakow was a nice city though.
