GTX 200 owners may get a refund

The people bought the card for say £460 and knew/thought they would only be paying a £50-70 premium for a new product.

In less than a month you can now get the same card for £280. or even less.

How can you sue? You pay an agreed price, if they decide to cut it in half next day thats just bad luck.

Agree. I might try this at the supermarket. I bought some fruit that went on sale this week and I paid full price last week!!!

Everyone knows that if you buy in the first few days of launch you are going to get ripped off when the prices fall a week or so later. You pay that price as you want it straight away and cant wait. So tough.

If I were the company I would say bring it on and they would be laughed out of court. No ones forces these people to pay the price and we all warn everyone on here about it.

So the end verdict...TOUGH!!!

Also tbh there was a lot of posts on ocuk of people saying the price will go down the price will go down THE PRICE WILL GO DOWN !!! and yet people still bought it so i say tough luck should have listened

Actually what you will find is that the AIB partners were refunded by nvidia for this so they got the money back they are now passing this money back on to their customers which is the right choice.

As someone who was stung by this I'd be interested to know if OCuk would be willing to take on the challenge. It's possible OCuk were reimbursed for this as well and are just hanging on to the profits.

Care to comment Gibbo?

I purchased an Audi S3 not long after they launched here in the UK. A couple of months later, Audi UK reduced the price by roughly 2k, as they needed to make a price point hole in their range for the soon to be launched Audi TT.

Whilst I wasn't one of the people who complained, I did welcome the refund and it made me a very loyal Audi customer.

So, there is a precedent in the UK, and it's good PR for a business.

On the other hand, I have lost £15 on my 4850 since I got that on launch day... You win some and lose some I guess! :D

Can't say I'm complaining, I paid $720 each for all 3 of my EVGA 280GTX F T W's and I certainly welcome the refund! I wasn't one of the ones who complained when the price dropped however, these things happen, such is life :)

Goes off quickly to buy cheap secondhand gtx 280 with receipt before owner hears about this refund..........So i can claim the refund as well..............:p

(Only joking....But this may work ;))

LMAO :D. (quickly navigates to the bay of E )

LMFAO so some people who were stupid now want their stupidity to get them some money back. I think you got two hopes of getting anything off OcUK and one of them is bob and thats the way it should be you pays your money you take your chances. I sincerely hope this debacle costs nvidia a fortune i will then feel a little natural justice has been done for all the years of bsod's i have had thanks to their crap drivers :D.

I take it your part of about 80% of BSOD's on Vista then due to Nvidia drivers?.

Gladly I've used my 8800GTX on XP SP2 flawlessly (not rubbing it in your face).

No not 80% every bsod i have had on vista and xp before that were due to nvidia drivers (though google was needed sometimes to find that out) and i will be so happy when i get shot of all things nvidia soon :D only the gfx card to go.

I think if nvidia are refunding and it seems like they are the refund could be passed on to the customer but that is undoubtably up to each supplier. I purchased a BFG card which I have to say is a great card and I am not disappointed with it in any way. If I don't get a refund I won't loose any sleep over it but to be honest if some companies can offer it the others should as well. I really think someone in the UK/Europe should do this. BFG tradeup program only works in US and Canada and I for one am tired of being a second class citizen.

Come on OCuk. Show us why you're number one ;-) I'd hate for a competitor to beat you to it. If you cannot refund yourselves perhaps you could negotiate on your customers behalf I am sure it would be greatly appreciated.

I am thinking of contacting consumer direct (government) to see if there's anything they can do to move things along for us europeans.
LMAO! On what grounds exactly!?

You have no entitlement to a refund whatsoever. If the manufacturer of your card decides to offer one in the UK then great but I wouldn't hold your breath and, even in the US, the refunds are amounting to around £60 only which is a fraction of the premium those who bought on launch day have paid.

No one has a right to a refund or a rebate because they were an early adopter of this or any other component thats what you get for being an early adopter. Anyone seriously thinking they might get some money back need to wake up quickly you shouldn't get any money back and you don't deserve to get any money back. Many people not just on this forum said the launch price of the G200 series was too high and would drop but no some people had to have the latest toy well you've got it and now your stuck with it and with how much more you paid then you shold have done. I am staggered anyone is remotely expecting OcUK or any other retailor to give them money back because of their lousy timing really is beyond belief.
