Pssshhh who needs noisy diesel eh !

The diesel R8 is pointless though.

Why if you spent 80k on a car would you car about your fuel bill?
I mean I don't see why anyone would drive a diesel by choice for any other reason than a low fuel bill.

I dont know about you but I really like the power delivery of a good diesel engine, especially the latest 2.0 D in BMWs (350Nm torkz!). I'd take a 120d over a Focus ST anyday. (first and last time i will say it! :D ) Even when I was in a stupid gear it felt satisfying.

So a Diesel V10? BAM!!!!!

i'd quite like another diesel tbh but common rail is a bit too unrelialbe for me, and i'd want a mondeo tdci which are bad uns apparently

When you're idling, you're doing 0mpg.

it's the other way round though, you're getting infinate miles to the gallon.
it's using the complete opposite of 0mpg

zero l/100km maybe, not not mpg

it's not gallons per mile, but miles per gallon
at that rate of fuel usage, you'd do lots and lots of miles. (but you can't, as you're not moving)

The main difference in a diesel is you can hoon it around, drive how you want and always get good MPG, clearly the only way you get anywhere near 40MPG in a 3.0i BMW is driving like a grandma..

Horses for courses, but I prefer not having to be quite so anal in my driving style just to brag how slow I have to drive my car to get more then 35MPG... ;)

Saying all that, I'd still like a 330ci..

No, you are getting zero miles to the gallon. The engine is idling, it is using fuel. If you idled it until it had used 1 gallon of fuel you would covered 0 miles.

Thus 0 mpg.

Not with a decent 6 cylinder diesel. 'Hoon it around' in an x30d and you'll get less than 40.

Infact I drove the 530d from Southampton to Plymouth without being bothered about economy and it returned 38mpg. I did the same trip a month later in my 530i and it returned 31mpg.

And the fuel is cheaper..

I know, my mate in work with a 3.0 Z4 pretty much has impressed me with the fact no matter how he drives it, he always gets 28-30 MPG on average.. I'm slowly thinking about a 330ci after I sell the bus.. but I do like the way I can hoon that thing around and it always gets 40MPG..
