To me, this looks like it could be the most complete racing simulation available.

I enjoyed Race '07 but I just love race strategy and as Race '07 is geared towards sprint racing, pit stop strategy was not as important within the game.

While reading through the FAQ for Evolution, I find this:

Q: How does the pitstops work?
A: Pitstops are reworked, you can plan strategy before the race and also make changes during the race while on track.
Q: I'm going into pits, the pitmenu pops up, what now?
A: If you had preset and are happy with the actions marked with green colour, just push the button mapped for "menu select" to confirm actions. If you didn't have preset you have to do the changes you want manually, very important is that only the actions marked with green colour will be performed.
Q: How can I know what damaged parts needs fixing?
A: The pitmenu is usefull with this too, damaged parts are marked with red colour in the pitmenu.
Q: I received stop/go penalty but fuel is running out, can the penalty be served later?
A: Yes, there is "postpone stop/go" option in the pitmenu, confirm this and you can perform normal pitstop instead of stop/go. Remember that the stop/go must be served inside 3 laps you got it, otherwise you will be black flagged.
Q: I dont have control of the car in pitlane, why is that?
A: There is autopit on/off option in main menu game settings, and in garage realism settings. This is enabled by default and its active in all the sessions including offline practice. You can disable it and have full control off the car in the pitlane.
Q: What are pitmenu presets for?
A: With presets you can decide how much fuel you want, change tires or not, fix damage or not before the race. Presets are class specified so you can use saved presets with all the cars in the same class.
Q: Why does the pitmenu have "pit in request" instead of "confirm" button when called while on track?
A: This is usefull option to give the pits a heads up you are about to come in, confirm the request and you will see "pit in" icon. Requested pitstops are also slighty faster compared to unrequested stops.
Q: Is the fuel amount chosen in preset/pitmenu added to the tank or the amount you have left in tank after the stop?
A: The amount chosen will be added to what was in tank before enterting pits.
I am drooling of the prospects of the Racing fun which this may bring what with the strategy of the pits now being an important part of the game if you so require.

This combined with FULLY dynamic weather and the Nürburgring Nordschleife track, ROLL ON AUGUST.

still not enough cars!.........when will they bring a racing sim to rival forza and gran turismo to pc?
also i prefer normal production cars.

oh yes, that looks marvelous !!!! cant wait

wooT!

Does anyone know when this will be released?

Small world by the way, I was testing (my race car) at Cadwell this Wednesday and I met the physics modeller for Simbin, the only UK staff member! Had a good chat etc, he was driving a BMW around with some kit in it and a Simbin license plate. He said GTR Evolution was a great add-on for Race07 as the ring is ****-on accurate, the best yet, better than any other track they've done in fact.

He wasn't 100% sure of the release date but said it's imminent.

I'm actually going to the Ring next week but a little late for Evolution 'pre-practise' it would seem. :)

Looks like its out late August. I'm looking forward to this. Just picked up Race 07 to sample whats in store.

I'll also be up for some racing when it lands :)

After getting quite addicted to gtr2 recently I'd be up for some racing. I am however completey rubbish so you'll have someone to pactice your lapping back marker skills on!

Yep definitely looking forward to this :)

But reading that little FAQ it the pit stops dont look that much different to most other games ?

I do not believe there are THAT many games on the PC at the moment which implement PIT Stop "Strategy" that well, other than the mains sims.

The FAQ confirms that the PIT Stops in GTR-Evo will play an important in each race if you require as they should in my opinion.

Many games TRY to implement Pit-Stops but most fail with poor implementation. For example, the Pit Stops in Race '07 were not that great although as Race '07 is mainly about sprint racing, it was not a major issue but with GTR racing, it is a totally different kettle of fish.

I tried Race 07' and well...didn't feel it. To say I have rFactor (Race07 apparently uses a modded ISI engine AKA rFactor engine), I can...well feel the weight of the car, I can feel its movements via force feedback on my G25...Race07 feels very light and primitive in comparison.

I hope for this game though that is changed for a more dramatic feedback system. I also hope the now too old problem of it being extremely hard to correct oversteer is fixed as well...which is apparent in rFactor too.

However this taken from the SimBin website may doubt that, because it looks a mere extension;

A GTR Evolution expansion pack for existing owners of RACE 07 will also be available.

If i can get m wheel working properly in Vista 64 then i will definitely have a look at this, as really enjoyed the other 2 but havent had the chance to play through them fully.
