All New Summer 2008 Transfer Merry Go Round/Rumour Mill

I agree.

Its the Keane sale that I won't agree with if it goes through, still, Bent for top scorer next season anyone?

Could happen. He scored a bucket load for Charlton playing as a loan striker with the ball being knocked up to him, with him as a Spurs loan striker and the likes of Modric and dos Santos playing balls into him he could easily score 20!

*I'll get my coat shall I.

Looks like Keanne will be moving..

Sporting Life

According to the Liverpool Echo the deal could be completed in the next 48 hours after Spurs boss Juande Ramos admitted he may need to balance the books.

They use quotes from days ago and slot them into a new article to make him look like he's commented on recent events when he hasn’t.

Slightly disappointing. Glad Keane isn’t coming out saying I want to stay at spurs and win something etc.

Hopefully wrap it up over the weekend/Monday and Barry this week and settle down for the season. Exciting stuff :)

Well for a start United have kept pretty much their own council on this rather than conductiting their business through the press like Madrid. When you cut through the bull, United have said they dont want to sell and for all their noises, self imposed deadlines and public courting of Ronaldo they have at least said the sale is entirely dependant on United.

As per two years ago, Everyone was 100% convinced he was off. As per two years ago, Fergie has had a word and it looks to have done the trick. As it stands he is a United player and he will be expected back at the club

No matter how much people say Madrid are doing this or Ronaldo is doing that. The only people who says he goes is Fergie and the Glazers.

Personally I couldn't give two hoots if stays or goes, how he has conducted himself since the Monday before the Champions League final has been deplorable. But let's get a bit of perspective, nothing shifts newspapers like lies, rumours and more lies as the truth is often very boring. He's still a young lad with lots and lots of people around him all too ready to offer him bad advice too feather their own nest.

Let us not forget, Ronaldo's own mother said he'd be at United next season and he does what his mother tells him. I believe he's dumped that moose he was with because Mama Ronaldo thought she was a golddigger.

It will be funny if Boro do get Sorenson as I was only saying to my mate last week who's a Boro supporter that he could do a better job than Turnbull and Jones.

Spurs are not happy about Fergie and Rafa -

Chairman speaks out

There has been substantial speculation in respect of the futures of Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane, including press comment from both Sir Alex Ferguson and Rafa Benitez. In response our Chairman, Daniel Levy has made the following statement:

"Today's public comments by Manchester United's manager, announcing that he has made an offer for Dimitar and is confident that the deal will go through with time working in their favour, is a blatant example of sheer arrogance and interference with one of our players. It is also probably one of the worst offences by any manager in the Premier League to date and is unbelievably hypocritical given his recent comments in respect of Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid.

"This comes after a series of events, dating back to last summer, which have shown Manchester United to be in breach of Premier League (PL) rules. As a result, we have today made an official complaint to the PL about the conduct of Manchester United. Benitez made similar comments in respect of Robbie recently and we made an official complaint to the PL about the conduct of Liverpool earlier this week.

"The behaviour of both clubs has been disgraceful. We told both clubs very early on that we had no interest in selling Robbie or Dimitar, respectively, and that they should refrain from pursuing the player. Both clubs arrogantly chose to ignore this request and we now have evidence that both clubs have systematically been working to prise the players away from us, outside of PL rules of conduct.

"Our subsequent position has been severely compromised by both clubs making their intentions widely known and indeed making contact with the players and their agents, without the Club's permission.

"I have absolutely no wish to sell either player and to date we have not accepted any offer for either. However, when a player's head is turned and their commitment is absent, particularly when they occupy key positions such as that of striker, they become a negative influence in a team dressing room in which they were once a positive addition and influence. This is the situation we now have on our hands, with both Dimitar and Robbie having made it clear that they wish to leave for Manchester Utd and Liverpool respectively.

"Irrespective of the outcome and futures of Robbie and Dimitar, we are continuing to seek to bring in quality, talented players for the future, who want to play in a Spurs shirt."

Considering Uefa's responce to Utd's complaint about Real, i can't see anything coming of this. Good to see Levy more or less confirming that Keane is on his way though ;)

A bit rich of Spurs complaining about this considering they aren't exactly whiter then white. The whole way they want about getting Ramos was far worse then what has happened regarding Berbatov and Keane.

The statement has nothing to do with tapping up, all clubs do it one way or another and Levy knows nothing will happen to us or Utd (nothing meaningfull anyway). This statement was designed to to cover their backs if/when both players leave.

I hope United get a right old kicking and get told, in a land mark ruling, that they under no circumstances, even if Spurs drive him to OT and pay united £30 million to sign him, are the ever allowed to sign Berbatov.

I don't understand the hate for Berbatov, he scored 23 goals and has been involved in the most goals in the last two years apart from Rooney and Ronaldo. He is proven to score in the premiership, his touch is class, he will be class, we have two workhorses in Tevez in Rooney. Really hope we do the deal.
