All New Summer 2008 Transfer Merry Go Round/Rumour Mill

I hope United get a right old kicking and get told, in a land mark ruling, that they under no circumstances, even if Spurs drive him to OT and pay united £30 million to sign him, are the ever allowed to sign Berbatov.

I will bet you £10 right now that IF Utd get him, he will improve the team dramatically - there is no reason whatso ever why any true fan would want their own club ruled against, not even going as far as stating that without question SAF is one fo the top two or three British managers of all time, so you shouldnt really question his belief

ok he has made a few questionable trades, but easily outweighed by the class he has signed and brought up

Levy hasnt got a hope in hell - Im not sure about the press release timing of the anfield quotes (they may well be just as blatantly ok for all I know) but it was confirmed days before SAF spoke in SA that Utd had offered an amount for Berba, and wide reports of an upped bid - so there cant be much if any of an issue (apart from the wide reports that Ramos isnt that interested in keeping him)

He is a sulky little bitch that's the problem, he may knock loads in for us but when the going gets tough he strops about and is a lazy **** to boot

I think he may come across sulky, but whether with SAF behind you and lining up with a great team with the potential to win medals...I can't believe he will not perform, Cantona was hardly seen as Mr motivator when he first came either...

Dont be ****ing silly, he walked on the pitch and motivated everyone

Ive heard countless times how he used to stay behind training with the kids and getting them to train properly and how many times have you heard players talk about what an inspiration he was, people like Beckham, the Nevilles, Roy Keane, Fergie, Scholes......etc

He single handedly won the title for us just by turning up

I didn't mean he did not motivate players, I meant he from the time at leeds was known to be rather moody. Berbatov has got great stats and in a great team he will be class...give him a chance ffs..

Berbatov is at present a one season wonder, i don't think he's going to make much difference at Man Utd personally.

Nasri on the other hand will be the new Zidane ;).

Agree completely until the irrational use of some american term that suggests that we somehow swap footballers.

I will do but at the moment i think hes a sulky, lazy little get.

That's not the type of player i want at MU

I'll reserve judgement on Nasri till i've seen him in the prem. Berbatov on the other hand i've seen for 2 seasons and he's been good for 1 :D.

Id love to see how he would react to the likes of Ronaldo being by far his better, and Rooney and Tevez with all their support from the fans.
I cant imagine him winning you any games to be honest..

Like Cantona playing with the likes of Hughes, Kancheslskis and Giggs. His ego wont allow him to play second fiddle. Or does he rise to the occassion?

to be honest i was god knows how old when cantona was about, without a sky subscription, so i cant remember if cantona had as much of an ego, well I know he had as much of one, but was he as much of a *** as berba?

Everyone that wasn't a MU fan hated him, everyone that is that knew he was brilliant if not slightly barmy and would have him in their team any day

He was also an utter **** :D

I remember a 2 footed tackle on Jeremy Goss when we played Norwich, watching it nowadays highlights what a shocking tackle it was

That was a killer! It was live on BBC wasnt it? That was the situation when Jimmy Hill lost the plot and SAF ended up calling him an idiot? It was either that or Cantonas assault on Moncur.

I am excited at the potential Berba signing.
It's true that it's not without it's risks - his attitude has been poor at times (although perhaps people are exaggerating it here) and his playing style doesn't immediately look ideally compatible with our system buuut..
He has a lot of ability and at times has looked amazing. if he was to really give his best and sort that attitude out, I think he will quickly become a big fan favorite and probably for the first time since that opening season for Spurs would be enjoying his football again.
Having him available with/instead of rooney/tevez is certainly better than having no option, which is what we have had at times for a while now.
