The Dark Knight, Ultra Mega Hype Thread

Give Curio a break - his personal opinion is just as valid as 25,000 even if it doesnt match the general consensus - its not his fault hes a Birmingham City supporter :p...

The 23rd at 7.30pm. It's the preview showing. Apparently you get "free stuff" for going. Obviously the extra you're paying means it isn't fee, but hay ho.

Ah rite! Those must have sold out! :(

£8 isn't bad though considering that the local cinema isn't far off that price too! just means a trek to Glasgow!

I actually said I think it's a good movie! As a superhero/action/adventure/blockbuster it fits the bill very well. What I don't get is why the critics are raving about it so much and suggesting it's more than what it actually is. I'm just saying that I don't understand what it is that (apparently) elevates it above other very good movies of the same kind. I couldn't see anything special, apart from Heath Ledger. The script, acting, directing, music, effects, etc, etc were all pretty standard for such a movie - good but not remarkable. I just didn't see why I'm supposed to rate it more highly than, say, Iron Man or even Batman Begins.

It's out here in Mexico but haven't got round to seeing it yet

Hopefully see it tomorrow...£3.50 at the luxury VIP cinema here! Huge screen, digital projection, proper decent surround sound, leather recliners, waiter service, proper food.....

Just to add more hype, I saw this before flying back from thailand, and it's bloody awesome. Ignore what Curio has been going on about. It thoroughly deserves its 9.7 on IMDB.

Im seeing on Thursday night, but Im off that day and really considering going to the cinema (on my own :p) to see the first showing...

I just canna take it...

The only people who have seen it thus far are those who are either fanboys or those which are likely to get caught up in hype. King Kong had a rediculously high rating when it was released as well and that was very poor.

Batman Begins was good, but it was hardly a life changing movie. I expect more of the same.

Its hard not to look forward to it considering the ingredients:

1) I cant think of a bad film directed by Chris Nolan - he really seems to know his stuff
2) Christian Bale is a very talented chap, one of my all-time favourite actors
3) Joker is the ubiquitous arch-villain - his relationship with Batman is fascinating...
4) Out of all the well-known comic book characters I think Batman is the one one with the most depth

And thats not even considering the hype...

Any film Bale is in you know is going to be great. Why I hear you ask... well its because he is Welsh. :D

Any who Tefal has watched it and he told me it was rubbish.

I wouldn't really call me a fan boy. Its not like i travelled to Thailand just to see the movie. I mean I wanted to see it, but I hadn't even seen the full trailer. It happened to be on, I had a free afternoon, so I thought I would go see it. Damn sight cheaper than the UK too...but yeah. It's brilliant. Can't wait to go and see it again sometime the week after this one.
