Megane R26R - Fastest FWD

I thought that 300bhp Alfa 147 was the fastest FWD production car?

8 minutes is pretty impressive for FWD but I still wouldn't buy one, how much are they? I bet it's approaching £30k for a fully kitted one, and thats Merc/BMW/Audi territory

£25kish and the only options are a cage and climate.

I appriecate what they've achieved by only removing weight and fiddling with the suspension but I still think they should have slapped a bit more power on to it just to finish it off nicely.

Fastest Hot Hatch (around the 'ring) I think is the claim.

Its the fastest FWD production car period

The car will be priced at 24k for a road legal brand new track car with 3 years warranty i think thats good value tbh.

Heres loads of high res images.

What's the 0-60 on it?

From the horses mouth:

"The tested Autodelta 3,750 cc V6 engine has been fitted with a custom designed Rotrex supercharger to produce 400 bhp, with a top speed in excess of 180 mph (288 km/h) and 0-60 mph (0-97 km/h) in 4.8 seconds. "

That's the Alfa 147 Autodelta... yes they're a tuning company but only in the same respect that M are for BMW or AMG for Mercedes, so it counts as a production car.

It's a very different situation. BMW M cars are sold in BMW dealers by BMW salesmen, they appear on BMW price lists and marketing materials, they are on the BMW parts systems, have BMW technical manuals, are registered as "BMW Mx" models and BMW M is a wholly owned subsidiary and entity of BMW.

Mercedes AMG is majority owned by Mercedes and most of the above that applies to BMW M also applies to Mercedes AMG.

Autodelta as it is today is a company set up by a guy in West London who liked Alfa Romeo's and wanted to tune them. The relationship with Alfa Romeo pretty much stops there! Not sold in Alfa dealers, not on the price lists or marketing materials, not on the parts systems, and are registered as normal Alfa Romeo's. It's much closer to what AC Schnitzer is to BMW and what Brabus is to Mercedes :)

Nope, but I bet you could walk into a dealership and ask for one
And you'd be buying a normal car from Alfa that then would be sent to Autodelta to fiddle with! If you insured it you would have to insure it as a modified car. It does not have an official ABI insurance group.

An Autodelta Alfa is not a production car, and is treated the same as if I bolted a supercharger to my BM and screwed it up to 400hp.

I'd like to see a Civic Mugen RR Edition set a time. This might be quick but christ its ugly and sounds rubbish. Being French it will probably fall to bits or burn itself out anyway, at least we can hope.

Have to laugh at some of the comments regarding french build quality.

Renault have come on leaps and bounds and the Megane is trouncing the competition when it comes to hot hatches.

Face it the french have always made the best hot hatches........
