The Dark Knight - **Spoiler Thread**

Just got back from this.

Absolutely ruddy awesome for sure, the best comic film by a long way and one of the best movies of my generation. I'm not sure it will stand the test of time with other greats like Godfather etc. but we can but see it.

Regardless i will clamor to see it again in the near future and it has actually exceeded the hype but a LONG way imo.

Next baddie to be black mask.

Saw it this afternoon, thought it was a decent, well made film with some very good performances especially from Ledger. I definately don't think it's anywhere near as good as everyone else is saying which is suprising considering I'm a big fan of Nolan and Bale. In a few years I reckon people will look back and wonder why there was so much hype.

7/10 from me and Ledger deserves an acadamy nomination.

7/10 here also

great movie.

without a doubt Ledger deserves a Award, he takes grip of his scenes like no other. A true tallent has been lost.

I think they killed the Bi**h cos she was a minger. lol

Just got back from it. Never known 2.5 hours go by so quickly. I loved it, but want to go see it again next week before I give it a rating.

Nobody can deny Ledger was great as the joker. So good in fact that I found myself distracted, thinking "is this really Heath Ledger". I was distracted by a great many things, which is why I want to go watch it again, so that I can just enjoy it for what it is.

Oh, and to some saying above that the Joker not having a back story was a bad thing, I think it added to the part. I think thats of the things that detracted from the Spiderman movies. There wasn't anyone who was simply bad - they were all made bad through a silly accident of some sort. Having him just be there and be insane was the best way to play it.

I for got I could discuss spoilers in here - so here goes!

I was expecting Two-Face to be built up and used as a villain in the third, and while they don't say he defo dead, it is kind of implied. It would be corny to bring him back in three and say "haha, fooled ya".

But if this is the extent of his role, then I kind of feel he was rather underused, even if his fall was part of the Jokers plan.

And I kind of missed what was going on in the beginnig due to late comers to cinema. I did see Scarecrow, but was he actually fighting as a vigilante then? Or was he bad?

I couldn't agree more with what you said about Joker having no back story. I feel it really added to his character. The bit where he makes the pencil disappear... As soon as that happened I thought "this character isn't what I expected". And it really wasn't, it was so much deeper, and just better in every way. Ledger's performance was nothing short of spectacular. I also found myself trying to figure out if it was really him. The personality was the main thing, but just the make up as well. It was so good as it really didn't make you think of other roles that he's acted (possibly because none of them are memorable).

RAMBLE RAMBLE RAMBLE.. In short, the film was spectacular in EVERY respect. I really want to see it again, but don't in case it isn't as good as I remembered. The only film to make me feel that way since the Bourne Ultimatum.

WHAT A FILM!!1o1oneone

Come to think of it, there was one scene that bothered me. When Joker and gang crash Bruces fundraiser, once he has dropped Rachel out the window that scene just kind of ends with them landing on the car.

So the joker didn't continue looking for Dent? And why didn't Batman race back up to try and catch Joker?

As posted in the other thread, one of the best films i've seen. Ledger stole the show, he was just so good.

Only minor points for me was I felt they could have cut it by 20-30 minutes and Harveys eye being a bit 'distracting'.

I'll say the same again which i also said in the other thread Richeh.

But it wasn't just his eye, i think that far too much of his face was damaged, felt it would have been better with it having a bit more meat left on it, the exposed teeth just seemed not possible there. Also the sonar tech thing was a little over the top, apart from that all the other tech was nice and beleivable. With an oustanding script and decent performance from most of the actors involved along with some really effective set peices (ferry scenes being my favorite) it's just so well done together.

Oh yes, why didn't someone kill the guy who was giving the annoying lines in the swat van :(

Edit: Oh yeah, and how good was the CGI for Two-face?! I think that's the first seamless example of that quality and detail I've ever seen, it got to the point where I was trying to figure out if it could just be an exceedingly clever make up job!

When he was lying on the hospital bed I thought it was quite poor, when he had his face turned you could see a real bad cut off line, or what appeared to be. It was like the bad half of his face was literally chopped off and then appeared when he turned over, seemed to be a bad line down his chin. But thats me being picky and I noticed some more CGI I thought wasn't up to scratch but its pety.

Overall though great film and loved it. Cant say its better than wall-e as they are completely different and seeing both of them over 2 days, definitely great films for completely different reaons. But Ledger was great, really got into the character and how it was meant to be played.

Ledger's Joker was more engrossing than Nicholson's, whenever I see his version I don't think "Joker", but Jack Nicholson in clown make-up acting like Jack Nicholson. It doesn't fully live up to the hype generated, but it's pretty damn close to being perfect. The themes portrayed in the film are really strong and add a sense of depth to everything. Overall I'd give it about a 9.2-9.5

Great film and I EAGERLY await to see what happens next.

Ya know its one of these things about the Harvey Dent issue that gets me, despite me "thinking" he was dead I was "sure" he was still alive. I dont know if it was just me but im pretty sure his chest is moving in the "death" scene slightly as if he is still breathing in and out albeit slowly. If you see it again check it out.

It is certainly possible that by managing to cover Gordan's death they have done so with Dents. Again protecting the legacy and allowing Batman to become the "villain" of the piece. Dent had turned into Two Face and was no longer himself, its not like they would have been able to wake him up and be like....."btw all that psychotic stuff that just happened with you, lets forget it and move on" I am interested to see where it goes.....if it does!

The Joker scenario is an odd one. Obviously by keeping the character alive they would have probably used him in some capacity in future films but since Ledger's sad death this will probably no longer be the case as any other actor would regardless of performance fail in the eyes of the public.

Ledger himself engrossed me in this film and just pulled me in! Fantastic performance and I definitely would not begrudge him a best Supporting Actor Oscar as he certainly wasn't in the film enough to be considered a "lead" that was obviously Bale as Batman.

Though bravo to Ledger his performance was flawless and his character was a different class, certianly the best thing about the film!

And BTW Maggie looks too like Kirsten Dunst for my liking lol!

I think there's something sexy about Maggie, I've no idea why though.
I don't get that with Kirsten Dunst however, I just think she's very plain and unremarkable.
I'm sure others would disagree.

Just a note for those who missed or didnt get the Scarecrows part in the filom:

Basically near the start there was a drug buyout or something where scarecrow was in attendance. This got gatecrashed by a few batman wannabes and went bad. Batman landed on scarecrows van as he tried to escape and the scene ended with scarecrow, surviving goons, and the batman wannabes left tied up for the cops. So scarecrow is back in jail we can assume, and wont escape for a while.

I think also as said above the only thing they can do now with Joker is have him just jailed under max security. They cant use the charachter again because anyone attempting to out-do heaths performance will get stoned to death at the first oppertunity...
