Hi all,

Im looking for a high end monitor, i have already used a Benq FP241W so i know what they are like, very good, but do bleed a bit in a dark room, but other than that just a picture perfect picture :)

All at the ~£450 mark:

NEC MultiSync® LCD2470WNX 24" (S-PVA)
Benq FP241WZ (P-MVA)
Hazro HZ24W 24" (S-IPS)

Hazro seems good, just doesnt have height adjustible, and they arnt for sale yet?

Anyone got any other views on these or other monitors, im looking to use one mainly for gaming.

Thanks
Wes

Just did a quick check. This maybe a states only monitor or advertised with a different code in the UK.
Looks nice though.

It's a difficult one because if you really want Pro then you have to spend a lot more money, such as the Samsung SyncMaster XL24 or a Lacie with colour calibration.

The Hazro has been on sale, but there was a problem identified with DPMS in Vista that stopped it going to sleep properly. They've been producing a new revision and took delivery of the first batch this week. They're sending those out to people who have experienced the problem and then OcUK will get more stock.

It's a very good monitor picture quality wise, and the new revision is meant to be even better (updated S-IPS panel from LG.Philips). As for height adjustment - I haven't found myself needing it (ergonomically you should be looking down on a monitor tilted up anyway) but if it's important to you then can provide a VESA mounting plate and you can then purchase a third-party VESA stand (like the ones from Ergotron).

The hazro is looking like a good alternative. No problems with the S-IPS panel in games? It does have a rather good Response time of 5mS and input lag of 32mS is a tad faster than the Benq. I must say i didnt even think of input lag 2 days ago - never/cannot notice it really.

As for height i seem to be in the habbit of having the monitor at eye level. At the end of the day superior picture quality is the highest requirement for me.

I will have to wait and see, i guess we should see them in stock soon then at ocuk?

Just how good is OCUK's house brand 24" with PVA????

I guess its in the eye of the beholder. 211 quid is damn cheap, but does the "you get what u pay for" ring true in this case.

I am just reading you first post again.
I took high end to mean for photograpic work.
If your main concern is gaming would you not be better off with a TN panel, like the Samsung SM-245B. A lot cheaper and less lag.

I do programming / gaming, i dont like panels that change their colours as you move your head etc as it sticks out to me if just reading text. I am looking for a good all rounder and don't want to compromise too much

If you don't like colour change at all stear clear of *VA's as well as they have a horizontal gamma shift issue, it's noticeable on another popular tech forum who's colour scheme is grey, black and red.

As for the OcUK Value one, well, there's been a fair few people with problems (We don't know % wise how many people) and the manufacturer kept one poor guy's panel for 4 months before fixing/replacing it.

I owned one for 2 days...never again !

Plus the ones that were bought laterly are no where as good as the first items reviewed in the thread...."Buyer be for warned" should be at the top of that thread!
